Hi d7
Bold maybe but I'd just forked out £20 parent & child ticket,£20 petrol and £10 at the pie stand to watch that performance. Hardly value for cash! And while I'm on about the pie stand, shame on you Stranraer for running out of bovril, that just summed the day up.
Now that the red mist has settled, do I think I was harsh? I'll need to get back to you on that. What I would say is;
That free kick, I loved it too the first time I saw it and yes it would have a place in my arsenal if I was the coach, but every time! You can almost see the opposing bench nudge and snigger as if to say "here we go again!!" A bit more imagination required.
Sitting too deep, that's just criminal, it just invites teams onto us, if we persist on playing the long ball then we should at least follow it out, but we don't. While we are on the subject of sitting deep, why do we never leave anyone up at corners? When we clear the ball it just comes right back at you, madness!
The manager, yes I agree about resources, but even with the slim pickings we have it's more the way we use them that annoys me. There doesn't seem to be any leadership from the touch line to change the game. On the topic of favourites, that's clearly the case and it's to our detriment, as I said earlier, 1 goal down in a game and we change the midfield and leave two strikers on the bench, ok two green young strikers but nonetheless strikers, and if they are good enough to be on the bench then hell why not give them a chance. For sure Ferguson, gilmour & McCann ( the normal subs we'll call them ) haven't been doing it. As I type my mind goes back to that Tuesday night and Callum's last minute against QOS set us up for the biggest, possibly club saving tie against Celtic and think am I being harsh on him? No I don't think I am. The manager has to better use the resources he has available, definition of insanity "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
I have to say being new to the area and a newby supporter I've only really seen last two seasons and surviving in league 1 last year was great but we should and could have kicked on. We should be going to places like Stranraer, Peterhead, stenhousmuir and bossing games but we never do.
Unfortunately I think unless we do something different we are going to find ourselves in trouble before long, and that's not a place I want to be!
Anyway Sunday fry up time. Enjoy what's left of your weekend guys and let's hope for change of fortune next week.
Ps big Mick if you read this I do love your cameos in the opposition box but please bit of variety in the free kick department.
