I'd also be looking at East Kilbride for talent Thought I was on the wrong forum for a minute there albino, but I'm with you now! That is indeed great news. Reidy was our best defender last year by a mile. Fish I've always liked and if we now have a manager who plays through the midfield then Fish will be in his element. Ross Davidson has talent and again if we stop bypassing the midfield and start playing through them then that should suit him. Good news ahead of the session with the manager tomorrow. Coincidence?!?!?!?

Looks like I've just been made to look like the opposite of a women's left breast , sorry troops
I think that particular description is a trademark of the afore mentioned JG.
Haha! Seem to remember you and Gemmell having some history Tommy. He wasn't very complimentary on Twitter about something you said on here?

i think if he is out of contract a fee will be paid as he is under the age of 23, might be wrong tho. No thats correct. We will get a few grand I think. Good luck to him, great deal and full time football will do him wonders. Just stop those long range shots and he will be a very very decent keeper. Also good PR for the club - another young player coming to the club, doing well and moving on. He will also be missed from the kids coaching where he played a part recently. T Perfect summing up tee. Proper modern sweeper keeper and good with both feet. He'll be missed.

Will Alloa have to trim their squad now that first division football beckons again - could be some possibilities there. Falkirk have released a few , but may be beyond our budget there- as I mentioned earlier this month our management team may be able to use their influence and powers of persuasion to attract suitable replacements - the selling point of division 1 and regular football could swing it - fingers/toes crossed for good fortune.

Brian and Stuart are popular young guys with lots of contacts in the part-time game, which should give us a degree of pulling power - as long as they don't end up committing the Deadly managerial sin of doing favours for their pals.

Yep well remembered mate. Can't remember the exact context. Probably called him lazy, petulant and a moaner.
Think he came back to me via twitter. Had me hiding under the duvet all weekend. Not really. Look I know what JG brought to Rovers but as a person I found him pretty dislikeable.
Anyone who included him in their greatest ever Rovers X1 must have been aged 18 and under because I could rattle off half a dozen better Rovers strikers in my sleep.

Agreed. Not fit to tie the boot-laces of Franchetti, the ultimate and deadly centre-forward.

Agreed. Not fit to tie the boot-laces of Franchetti, the ultimate and deadly centre-forward. 100 % right David. If they wee both around at the same time JG would never have kicked a ball in earnest for Rovers.
I was ball boy behind the goal once when Rovers played Partick Thistle in the cup. Thistle brought a huge support.
Rovers played in those white Admiral Man Utd shirts with the 3 vertical black stripes with the Rovers badge sewn over the Man Utd one.
Anyway, Ray smacked the post from about 25 yards and we had a home game the following Wednesday and I swear that post was still shaking...

I'd also be looking at East Kilbride for talent - a lot of good players there including some ex-Rovers. Some of them must feel like moving on after their great season ended with an anti-climax. In all honesty there were only a couple I would even consider after seeing them on sat Russell is the obvious one. The guy woods ex Queens park and Matt McGinley the keeper who used to play with us. Possibly Procter but the rest I don't think would get a game in our division. Think most good results for them came through hard work and playing well as a team rather than being good players

As well as the Rovers guys at EK I liked Jamie Brough and Sean Winter when they were in senior football. I thought their midfielder Martin McBride was meant to be the best thing since sliced bread but I've never seen him play so can't comment.
Nathan Blockley from newly-relegated Peterhead would be another target for me, he's too good to have spent last season warming the bench at the bottom of the league.

In defence of big John you can't truly compare different era's as the game is much faster now and players are in general fitter. The beast put in many a good performance and scored vital goals. He was always a danger and a nuisance up front. I for one am glad he was at the rovers. He did his bit. He was an entertainer and all teams need that. Cheers big man. Also glad to see fish, reidy and Davidson back next year. Great news. Any news on the traditional faddy rumour? ;-)

Say what you like about John (and I often did!) but he always turned up when it really mattered - without him we would never have got promoted in 2011, wouldn't have beaten Airdrie 7-2, wouldn't have stayed up in 2012 and might not even have won the league two years ago.

Will gladly defend the Beast anytime. Would echo what's been said above Rovers would have got nowhere near promotion via the play offs if it wasn't for the Gemmell/Love partnership.
