Brilliant team performance today.
Particular praise for Connor Shields and Gary Fisher.
Superb is an understatement.
Connor I hope you score another hatrick next week on your 20th birthday.
Well done.

Great result considering EK are Scottish Football`s top `non league` side

And I forgot to mention the fantastic Rovers fan numbers at the match today. Over 100 Rovers fans.
Onwards and upwards.

Agree with Peter - team was absolutely superb today.Controlled the game from start to finish, and could have scored a few more goals.Connor took all his goals well, and we played as a real unit.

What a fantastic result/performance against a team widely regarded as good enough to compete in the senior leagues. Remember they scored a phenomenal amount of goals last year - over 100 ? I notice the press had us down for bottom place in the leagues this season - they cannot recognise that this Albion Rovers team are no longer the music hall joke, and over the last few years have improved year on year to be regarded as a serious promotion contender in the league they operate - this seasons squad looks impressive - lets stuff the press !

Good to see and great result against a potential banana skin. Good to see one of the u20's make a difference. Manager might not be happy at conceding two goals but this is the time to work on mistakes.
Superb all in considering the pre-match comments by Billy Stark about how Rovers handled his and Darren's removal- quite ridiculous comments.

Singing in the rain ! Superb performance from the guys today, the style of play this season is very easy on the eye and to score 5 away from home was excellent, and special mention for Connor Shields on his ha trick great stuff . Only one moan from today was the very inadequate stand having been told you have to sit down and to be fair the boy tried to dry the seats but really sitting in the stand getting soaked was not an experience I will ever repeat the stand is far too small even for our small travelling support ,wonder what it's like when a bigger club than us visit ?

.........and the grim reaper has landed. Just in the nick of time too it would appear. I agree with most of what is written above. I'll post a cheeky wee report later but by way of balance it's worth mentioning that EK were absolutely rank rotten. We gifted their 2 goals and outside of that they offered hee haw. If that's the best the Lowland League can offer then heaven help us.
Soon as I'm home and sober I'll spread some more joy and happiness. It's what I do........

Two goals up inside 5 minutes was about right. Trouten's first was a neat finish after some decent play and Fish for number 2 was similar. Great left foot strike from Fish by the way. EK hadn't really got going at all at this stage. Their game plan seemed to be to sit and, well, that was it really.
The game was pretty much dead and buried there and then and we sat back a wee bit which allowed EK to come back into it without creating anything. Meanwhile, whenever we got on the ball we passed over, under, around, through and generally right by the EK players. Brian really has got the team set up to play some nice stuff. One slightly scary moment when the keeper was beaten to a bouncing ball but the EK striker couldn't finish. If it was Brazil we would be raving about them. 2-0 at half time was a fair reflection.
The second half started the same way as the first with two quick goals. Both coming from Connor Shields who came on as a sub and looked some player. His first was a tap in from close range following some decent passing play. His second came from him robbing the EK defender before coolly slotting past their keeper. And then again we sat back a bit - no problem with that at 4-0. No way this game is heading to penalties I thought.......
And then we gifted EK 2 goals in the space of a few minutes. I know you'll find this hard to believe; completely took me by surprise too, but we didn't deal with a cross into the box and lost a cheap goal. First time for everything I guess.... Second goal was comedy gold. Ball into the box clattered off McMullin. Did he attempt a clearance? Get caught in two (or more) minds? Who knows, but the ball fairly flew past the keeper.
EK committed a few men forward after that and got caught with a great counter attacking move that we haven't seen the Rovers deploy for at least a season and a half. Great sweeping play from front to back. Ball worked down the right hand side to Victoria. He waits and waits for the right moment and plays a great ball into the box that takes out the entire EK defence allowing Connor to complete his hat trick. Could have been 6 but the honking stand side linesman chopped off what seemed a good Victoria goal. He was so far off the play he was almost in the wrong half but hey ho.
Great game to watch. The rain was heavy and the stands don't really provide much protection. Wonder what it was like watching football in the 50s and 60s!?!?!
Brian has the team playing some great football. Goal number 5 would never have happened last year because we didn't have enough players who wanted to go forward. Our modus operandi was "always backwards". Not this season. We've got decent pace, we move the ball quickly and the team look like, well, a team.
Fish is playing a good bit further forward and orchestrating our play extremely well. Defence has its shaky moments but Perry looks decent, which will come as a surprise to Clyde fans I'm sure. He looks good in the air and does the simple stuff well. When he needs to put his foot through the ball then he just does it and clears his lines. Both Connor and Victoria have real pace. Didn't realise Connor was so young. Hopefully he'll get a run in the team.
Signs are good then right enough. It's only one game and EK were as poor as we'll see all season but you can only beat what's in front of you. It probably burst their wee bubble today a bit, seeing the gulf between the two teams.
Stiffer tests await us this season for sure but 5-2 against anyone is a decent effort. Looking forward to Tuesday.

Last victory in 90 mins was against Livingston at home in 2009/10, Rovers won 3-0.

We were a joy to watch at times yesterday. Not that I believe anything I read on pie and bovril but the comments some Clyde fans made about our new signings couldn't be further from what I witnessed yesterday. I thought Scott McLaughlin was outstanding and certainly adds something going forward. Very happy with all the other signings, Fisher is back to his best and well done Connor Shields... Superb hat trick. Victoria's goal should have stood as he was defo onside imo and we missed some great chances. Absolutely superb performance against a team who are no mugs and drew with QOTS. Roll on Tuesday.
