So who hijacked this forum and filled it with all this negativity? And the irony of that statement coming from me is not lost; I assure you. Airdrie are full time and a decent side. They had us beat for pace all over the pitch. The result is the be all and end all in football, I get that. But the overall signs are of a decent hard working side who are playing much better football than the dross we were watching this time last season. We're obviously working with a squad that is thin, filled with youngsters as Bucky says and that we can afford. It might pay off, it might not. But it's obviously where we are.
Fish didn't have a great game but he was nowhere near "absolutely diabolical". That's a joke. As for that being our best 11 - not as long as Perry, Davidson and Victoria are in there it isn't.
At this rate I'll be joining that fans consultation group FFS! And by the looks of things I'll be the only one on it, ha!

Fish was terrible. We lost that game.

A very frustrating afternoon. Can understand both sides of the arguement regarding Fisher. For me he had an uncharacteristicly bad game which seemed to affect the whole team. Perry was hopless today at centre back, I though Lightbody actually played quite well when he replaced Marr. I'd like to see the two of them partner up when Marr is fit. I was quite disappointed with Reid and McLaughlin, I can barely remember an occasion until late on in the second half that we got in at Airdrie from the sides, given the comments that Airdries young keeper looks dodgy with high balls we should have exploited that more. Davidson along with Fisher had a bad day, Holmer doesn't look match fit. Shields didn't have much luck up front today but not through lack of trying, Victoria's goal was excellent but to then go on and miss two great chances, the second of which should definetly have been a goal is extremely frustrating. Trouten was our best player for me, he sliced the defence open with that pass for Victoria to score and looked by far the most comfortable on the ball. Think he had equally as frustrating afternoon as those of us in the stands.

Fish looked knackered to me today - especially the last 20 minutes or so. His passing was terrible but I think the stick he is taking on here when there are imposters like Perry and Davidson in the team is way out of proportion.

When it comes to imposters Perry is in a league of his own. Appears to have made a career of looking like a footballer. Davidson tries but hasn't got it. We will struggle this season.

Jings it's a sad day when I'm the one on here with a positive message! Wasn't sure I was on the right forum there for a minute. I thought we did okay today apart from defensively of course. Perry is a bombscare (although I suspect Shakey will be along any time soon to tell me he played well against QP last week, so that's okay then FFS)! Jase isn't fit and went off to prevent further injury. Reidy and Scotty are solid enough. Bowman is really decent. Having said that, the goals we lost were terrible. And Perry was front and centre for both of them. Although Jase wasn't blameless either. Outside of that well, Victoria's goal was a cracker. Superb work in midfield from Trouts who is already my player of the season. The run and finish from Victoria was great. His later chances though just show what you get with him. One great finish evened up by probably a few games where he can't hit the target. Fish was great in everything he did except his final pass today which was woeful. Holmer has great vision, can make a great pass but he clearly isn't match fit either. Trouts worked hard and his assist was quality. Connor puts himself about and never stopped working. I think our shape today suited Airdrie and they deserved to win. No complaints about the result. They took their goals well and more or less contained us. What pleases me most is the contrast between this season and last. Today we played with either 2 or 3 up top for most of the game. And we had support in numbers. We create chances, we play some nice stuff and we'll get the breaks in some games. Our open play is good and although we over-elaborate sometimes in defence and get caught out occasionally, you can see a shape and a pattern to our play. We get men forward in numbers and carry a threat the whole game. Compare that to last season with the constant backwards passes, Also, remember our default position of putting Mick up top late in the match. It's like night and day compared to that really. Final whinge before I finish - we left it too late to make the changes. It was obvious we needed to change things up and it should have been done earlier. Say what you like about Airdrie but they're full time and I thought we ran them fairly close today. Sort out the defence and we'll win more games than we'll lose I suspect. Totally agree mate - some of the criticism of the players is well over the top. Actually thought we played quite well today too.

As a team and as individuals we didn't play well and as the home team you are looking for positive play - we lacked lacked that from the get go. In the first few seconds with Connor straight through on goal why he doesn't have a ping only he knows.
As for Fish - he has plenty of plaudits in the past so at the same time should get the criticism when it's called for. Whether it wasn't it day, to say he should escape criticism because he gives 100% effort isdelusional. 100% effort from every player in your team is a given.
I didn't attend Tuesday night but from all reports there was no stand outs from the fringe players that played from the start. I would replace Perry with Lightbody but don't see who you are going to replace Vitoria and Davidson with. The starting line up you see at Albion Rovers this season you are just going to have to hope it clicks that day.
2 home games, 2 defeats- early days I suppose.

Perry is the stereotypical Scottish footballer. Being an absolute monster he would have stood out from the rest of the boys from his age group because of his size and having zero football ability. That's were it stops.

It didn't do Dunky Shields any harm.

It is unfair to target one player. Therefore Fish and Davidson put in plenty of effort but without a positive result. The keeper doesn't command his box and left too much space. Victoria doesn't fancy a full shift. We were total mince on Tuesday and only marginally better yesterday. Defence need introduced....

Like d7 can't believe some of the comments on here! We get beaten 5-1 by a full time side and everyone seem pretty happy then we narrowly lose 2-1 to another full-time side and its unacceptable! Thought we could have easily snatched a draw towards the end - Victoria missed a couple of decent chances. Yes our defence looks vulnerable so say the least - but we all knew that before yesterday's game.

Yes our defence looks vulnerable so say the least - but we all knew that before yesterday's game. Slight difference Shakey between Ayr and Airdrie. Ayr are a solid full time team who break extremely quickly - 5-1 defeat was slightly on the harsh side but hands up we were well beaten. Airdrie being full time but with a large majority of young players I assume under the modern apprentice mould. That was not the best team Airdrie have sent out against a Rovers team. Just because we know Perry is a bomb scare before the game doesn't mean we have to accept him as a first team starter forever amen. Interesting comments from Brian Kerr- although as you would expect he didn't single players out he is very critical of the team as a whole. Let's hope they make it up to the fans next week.
