Hello.
Some of you may remember a thread I posted this time last year with a similar subject. I was asking questions about Rovers for an article which was published in a Scottish issue of The Football Pink magazine (if anyone's interested, I've attached a PDF of the article - thoughts welcome!)
I was overwhelmed by the responses I received last time, and hoped you kind folks could help me out again. I'm researching another piece for the same magazine, similarly on Scottish football. This article is all about the culture of football in the west of Scotland. I'll be looking at clubs from around Glasgow and Lanarkshire, as well as Aryshire and Dunbartonshire.
I want to know more about the histories, traditions and cultures of teams in these areas. The importance of football and the clubs to its town/area, what it means to fans, local rivalries (are the fierce or mellow), match-day culture. Experiences of playing or watching football (at whatever level). The piece will look to get a flavour of these things across the west of Scotland.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can help by answering some questions (see below) or even talking through their relationship with Albion Rovers and what the club means to them and the wider impact on the town.
Feel free to contact me at: joecarroll15@hotmail.com
I'd love to hear from you, whatever you have to share. Thanks very much in advance
Thanks again!
Joe Carroll

- How big a role does Albion Rovers play in Coatbridge and surrounding area - is it a footy obsessed town? Does it have a strong community involvement? Is there a sense of pride from majority of locals?
- What is the amateur football scene like in Coatbridge? Do any of your play/have played, and if so are your experiences positive/negative?
- Is there a hardcore fanbase for Rovers? What is the away following like? Those of you who travel - what's it like?
- I believe your local derby is against Airdrieonians - is it a hostile or friendly rivalry? Are there any other clubs you consider rivals? Why?
- For the more seasoned supporters, how has football/the club changed over the years? Does it still mean as much/less to play/watch?
- Are there any interesting footnotes in the clubs history? Quirks, funny/famous stories, notable players/records?
Thanks again!
