Absolutely outstanding result and performance. One of the most memorable matches I have seen. Connor's goal was outrageous. But all players in the team were superb. Oh and the Raith fans are a top bunch: plenty of good chat in Big Owen's afterwards. Also Raith midfielder Ross Matthews popped in for a consolation pint. Great day all round; but I do wish more Coatbridge folk would come along.

So, to be fair to Raith, they weren't dire. Not even nearly! That being the case the real Rovers were awesome again. We weathered a storm or two in both the first and second half but as tee says Raith never really looked like scoring. Some heroic defending by everyone at various times made sure Raith were restricted to a very few chances. Bowman had a couple of good saves - one at 0-0 where he seemed to just get a touch to a shot and tipped it around the post.
Trouts goal was comedy gold. The Raith keeper made a complete @rse of having the ball at his feet and Trouts robbed him and scored from the most acute of angles. A great goal and a classy finish to watch if there are highlights.
Connor's goal was a great curling shot from outside the box which gave the keeper no chance. The late consolation for Raith came from a free kick which was knocked down and finished well.
I think Raith will be scratching their heads about how they lost this one. They had plenty possession and had us pinned back for long periods but lacked a cutting edge. The team that scores the most goals always deserves to win and the Rovers were well worth the three points I thought.
The ref was average for this league really but completely inconsistent with his decision making. No truth in the rumour the game has just finished due to the amount of stoppage time added.
Home hoodoo overturned and it's a shame the international break is coming up as we are in decent form. Squad is still paper thin and a few bookings beginning to rack up so we might be tested in the weeks and months ahead.
Only criticism is we still defend quite deep at times which allows opponents to come onto us. A bit churlish today given the result against the league leaders and it's really just all about giving credit to Brian and the players for keeping us all extremely happy at the moment. Long may it continue.

Had a gut feeling today was going to be our day, as we often are the team that inflicts a first defeat on pace setters - I remember victory's over Hamilton/Morton and Falkirk to name 3 over the years. We certainly took the game to them in the second half and could have had a couple more- sitting next to 2 Raith fans who were impressed by our intricate link up play - especially for the second goal. A few weeks ago I compared this squad to the free scoring team of 1974/75 season with Dickson /Sermanni/Brogan etc - Shields and Trouten are the class of 2017 - lets hope more come along to watch this exciting team.

I just hope we don't lose them in the Winter - be it to other clubs, or a loss of form for Shields (no shame in it, often young players start a season well then have a drought) a Trouten injury/fitness issue (he's at that age).
At least we have competition for a starting jersey in Joao Victoria, with those two already on double figures he should be hungry to add to his tally when the chance comes.

Brilliant. Best buzz since ross' penalty save v east Fife last season. The team were great. Forced to defend, and defend they did. That was a solid test and they stood up to everything raith threw at us. Great confidence boost. I thought we were excellent going forward. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Have read a few comments about coatbridge no coming out to support the team, and yes, it would be for the greater good but it was their loss. The team are flying just now. Long may it continue.
They won't be dancing on the streets of raith tonight, that's for sure, however, a full row of their fans were behind me today and they took the defeat well and were very complimentary about the rovers (albion). A touch of class.
Only negative points for me today. Raith rovers spice boy number 11 giving our ball boy a hard time for misplaced throw. Get a grip. And speaking of throws...........the raith ones?? 100 yards from the point the ball originally went out the park?? How many times ref?
All in but......a great afternoon had. Well done to the team and management.

Great result yesterday to get the monkey of the back, must admit I'm taking these good wins as money in the bank, the further we get away from Queens Park and Forfar at the bottom end of the division at this early stage the better. We will hit a wee barren spell, it's the Rovers after all, and these results will help us when that spell comes round

Prof is spot on about the Raith number 11. What a d1ck. He was moaning the face off everyone - his team mates included. The crowd gave him pelters right enough which is always good to see.
Albino is spot on too about potentially losing Trouts and Shields. I thought Connor would go in the last window so anything beyond that is a bonus. Trouts has been different class since he landed and as I said before on here, he's already my player of the season!
We did look knackered towards the end of the game yesterday - but we did chase Raith from the first minute so that's understandable. I also liked some of the no nonsense defending yesterday, just putting feet through the ball and clearing our lines. Much better than pretending everyone is a Beckenbauer.
Holmer has settled in really well. He does the no frills, unsung hero role in the middle of the park very effectively. So he's never likely to get all the plaudits but he's been a great signing and looks as if he might be match fit at last.

Now that's what I call entertainment worth every penny.
One gripe the ref. How much added time should there have been? And how much did he add on?
Seemed very ....very ....very suspect maybe he had the match down as a draw on his coupon
