Got the point I'd have settled for before the game. But when all is said and done I think we should have won that. Better chances, better team and they're goal I felt was against the run of play. Yet again parry back to haunt us !!!!! Great desire and attitude from the boys though. Never know when they're beat. Great away support today as well. All in a decent days work.

A fairly ordinary game between two fairly ordinary teams. 1-1 over the piece was probably the right result. We definitely had the best of the chances and on another day..............actually scratch that. On another day we probably still wouldn't have taken our chances as we haven't been able to take them all season.
The Rovers started brightly and on the front foot. For the first 15 minutes we took the game to Airdrie and certainly had them on the rack a bit. We didn't create too much that troubled their goal but we had the bulk of the possession. We had a couple of long range efforts but couldn't find the target. Highlight of that opening spell was a pass back to our former keeper which he duly sliced straight out the park and over the far stand roof. Comedy gold that was!
As the half wore on Airdrie came back into it and started to string a few passes together. They played more football today than they did at the New Year game but never really threatened. I can't actually recall either keeper having more than the odd save to make in the first half. McBride probably came closest to scoring. He took the ball forward and beat a couple of men before hitting a shot from outside the box that ended up well wide. It wasn't the best option but you could see him mentally writing the headlines as he shaped to shoot! Airdrie countered with a header from a corner that Ross easily caught.
However on the stroke of half time we worked a good move down the left hand side. Kyle passed to Georgiev and he raced away from within his own half. He got up level with the 18 yard box and was clattered by the Airdrie defender. Fish took his time lining up the free kick and seemed to kind of miss hit his delivery a bit. Nevertheless he whipped in a ball that completely missed everyone and almost sneaked in at the far post. It was probably the best chance of the half.
So 0-0 at half time and surprise, surprise we brought out 2, yes 2 coaches to work with the substitutes!! One put the sub keeper through his paces whilst the other worked a few passing routines with the other 3. Credit where it's due but I did miss the aimless shooting.
Into the second half and still there was no real pattern to the game. Airdrie were trying to play football from the back and it was nearly their undoing. They got caught in possession and Ally raced away towards goal. He played a fine ball in to Archibald who probably could have been braver, but nevertheless got a shot away that Neil saved well. That should have been 1-0.
We were looking comfortable when unbelievably Airdrie took the lead. The ball got played into the middle of the half and Fitzpatrick seemed to have a lot of time and space to think about his options. We had plenty time to shut him down but whilst we were still dithering he fairly hammered the ball past Ross from 20 odd yards. It was a fine strike and Ross had no chance.
We huffed and puffed a bit after that but at least we went forward looking for a goal. Airdrie couldn't see the game out and when we scored it was a cracker. A decent move saw the ball fall to Georgiev wide on the left. After a decent run, he passed to Archibald who looked up and spotted Ally's run. He played in a great ball that Ally got to in front of their keeper and that was 1-1. Ally celebrated like he'd scored the winner in the cup final and so did the crowd!
There were a few slight nervy moments after that. A free kick into our box was headed just over and that was really the end of the action. Ross Davidson had a great run forward but elected to hit a poor shot with his left foot when he could have played in Georgiev who was in a far better position. Overall then 1-1 was just about right.
Once again we wore the black away kit today. Not sure if we have officially dumped the yellow and red but it's beginning to feel like it. We didn't use any subs today but I guess our options were limited. Man of the match for me today was probably Mick in defence. He won everything in the air all day. Even some of the balls into the box which have troubled us over the past few months were dealt with today. Georgiev's pace troubled Airdrie. Apart from that no real stand outs but a great team performance.
Another week goes by without a win but the nature of the game today - going behind and then scoring with about 10 mins to go, against your rivals, means this feels like a win. We're still in the mix for the play off places and still all to play for. Maybe not quite safe yet from the play offs at the wrong end of the table but realistically we'll be fine.
Congratulations to Dunfermline. No one can deny they've been the best team in the league. Let's hope they have a night out planned for next Friday and turn up with massive hangovers on Saturday!

Usual feisty Airdrie/Rovers Derby today.
Actually, from a crowd perspective it was VERY muted - you could have heard a pin drop in the stand at times!!!
Reckon it needed a two footed tackle and a straight red card!
Have to say it was a cracking finish from the Airdrie man and Lovies goal wasn't too bad either!!
So - 9 points clear of 9th place with only 5 games to go - JOB DONE???

Definitely deserved a point with a gutsy performance in a hard fought contest.

I think I got the score wrong by a bit, But, we are a team, the boys work hard, stick together and play for the jersey. It's very difficult to say anything other than we were the better team, we created the best chances...but uness a sugar daddy comes along we are always going to struggle to get our hands on a 20 plus a season goalscorer, but to reiterate, as it is..I think the lads have doen brilliant ! The lack of atmosphere today was a surprise.
