I’ve seen a worse game of football but I’m not sure when. Dreich is the only word to describe that. Devoid of ideas all over the park and as stated before can’t understand why Vitoria was left so long on as he was mince all evening. Ok maybe the surface made actually playing football difficult but Jees I think the ball will be badly bruised considering how many times it was just battered up and down the park. The keeper had a good game and can count himself unlucky at the goal as he made a terrific save in the lead up to their goal. Pretty obvious why both teams are at the bottom end of the league and if the Rovers are to escape a sad end to the season they’ll need to play a hell of a lot better than that Victoria’s best game this season has been against Lowland League opposition. End of story.

A bit like trench warfare at times last night. I think over the piece it was a point gained rather than 2 lost. Our homes games may be like that for the remainder of the season, and my fears of the pitch being the determining factor may hold true. It just takes a bad bounce or lucky bounce to determine our fate. The away teams seem to have this sussed out - just boot it about and hope for the best. Patience and good luck will be the watchword !

End of story. Victoria gets a hard time on this forum, and off Bucky in particular. I do not see lots of matches but in those I have seen Victoria has been variable, good, bad and in between. I was down at Stranraer, Victoria worked hard throughout, the defenders struggled to control him, he put in a great shift, it was a day of great shifts by quite a few of the players, I would have chosen Victoria as my man of the match. Give the guy a break!

Jao also put in a great shift and scored a cracking goal v Alloa on that freezing afternoon in early January. He's good on the deck on a decent pitch, but on Tuesday nigh he spent most of the match with his back to goal jumping in vain for the high balls pumped into the QP half with tedious (and fruitless) regularity. With young Connor gone Jao's now our main striker, so let's get right behind him and the rest of the players for the run-in.

I'm with sam and Bucky as it turns out. There's a few players in this team that aren't league 1 standard and Vitoria is one of them. Saying that out loud doesn't mean I'm not getting behind him, or the team and I don't shout abuse at any of them at the game.
But I'm entitled to my opinion on here as much as anyone else.

Give the guy a break! Brian, wasn't saying he had been rotten all season just that he wasn't good on Tuesday night, saying that he wasn't the only one. Yes he had to try and deal with a lot of high balls but he struggled to get to them and then couldn't trap wind never mind the ball when it was played into his feet. An off night I hope and I for one would have a big smile on my face if he scored a hat trick on Saturday

The supporters can’t give anymore than what we are giving. On Saturday we celebrated our 2nd league win in 5 months in between times there has been very few calls for the managers head. Rovers supporters are the most tolerant fans about.

Ok I can't.....he spends more time on his arse looking for fouls than playing the game. Very weak player in my humble opinion.

As Bill alluded to above - Joao is not at his best with his back to goal looking to out muscle a big centre-half - exactly what Connor was good at - so I don't understand why we play him in that position. I think he would be better on the wing running at defenses and cutting inside - that how he scored that goal at Alloa.
But to answer my own question - we probably don't have many other options right now......

I agree with you Shakey. I've seen Joao have decent games. On Tuesday he was hopeless but he wasn't the only one. The thing that pained me on Tuesday was the constant hoof ball up to him, knowing full well he wasn't going to win it. It was the most pointless exercise ever. Brian Kerr must surely have seen that also. Its surely simple, play someone else if thats the tactic, or tell the midfielders they'll have to start playing and attempt to play the ball on the ground, which granted also isn't easy on our "pitch". But for goodness sake if its going to be high balls get someone up that can at least compete or cause the defenders a hint of a problem.

A case for Perry /Mybayo or Marr to compete up field for the high ball game ? - a bit like the old Mick Dunlop option from the past - but it may be the best option in our home games at least.

Mybayo started off his career as a striker..... from an interview with him "“Back then I was a striker. It’s only more recently I’ve been converted to a central defender. Because of that, I still like to score the odd goal and chip in with some assists during the season."

Anything has got to be worth a try I suppose. And it always worked wonderfully well with Mick...................
