Please note that the next meeting of the memories group, will take place on Friday 24th of January at 1.30pm,and former Rovers captain Jim Deakin shall be in attendance.

Great player, nice guy, was being watched by Rangers but broken leg put an end to that.

Just to confirm the January meeting of the Memories Group will take place this Friday, 24 January, at 1.30 in the lounge.

Captain? Don't remember him being captain, was it not Alan Rodgers at that period. Great player, nice guy, was being watched by Rangers but broken leg put an end to that. Jim was appointed club captain after Sammy Conn was transferred to Clydebank for £23k just before Christmas 1986. Unfortunately for Rovers and most of all for Jim his first (possibly his second game) as captain was against Arbroath when his career was ended.

Good hear Jim back at Cliftonhill for a visit. A very classy left sided player and a lovely guy too. Could it be arranged for Jim to attend a game as a guest of the club.

Ronnie Really enjoyed getting along to this one. Hearing about the court case after the horrendous tackle on Jim was something I never knew of. I would certainly recommend if you have never been along to one of these to then attend and just take in the stories.
