Bit early for the cheap jibes, guys. Davie Provan was a 'Ranjurs man' too, but he went on to become a Rovers legend. Our new manager simply expressed an opinion to a football journalist. He's an intelligent guy, and I'm sure he'll weigh up the pros and cons of the Colts plan as the debate ensues. For the record, I'm 100% against the idea which, let's not forget, is backed as enthusiastically by Celtic as it is by Rangers.

Totally agree Bill. Give the guy a chance, no games yet, no signings made and he gets lambasted for an opinion!! Shouldn't we be happy that it's in a paper giving the club some much needed exposure!

The bottom line is that the idea of any Colt teams in the league is dreadful: an insult to us all. As I said before, I would not attend any of these matches. It was bad enough having to watch Rovers versus both of their 'senior' teams: an horrendous experience.

Try telling that to our Financial Director. Much needed cash I'm afraid. We didn't benefit from Rangers as we crossed over when we were relegated as they were promoted. I, for one, am looking forward to both colt teams getting beat by us and boosting our coffers.
This brilliant idea could be the saviour of the lower divisions.

The idea of the colts teams in the senior leagues would not work. You certainly wouldn’t get a crowd at any games, especially if the colts and their seniors teams are playing at the same time on a Saturday.
Secondly, colts teams generally play their ‘home’ games at other grounds I.e Celtic at Cappielow, Rangers at Forthbank, which would lead to possible fixture clashes with their host teams, meaning they’d need to find suitable venues with artificial surfaces, as I’m pretty sure the league banned groundsharing at venues with a grass surface.

Peter We may not have benefitted from being in the same division as Rangers, but remember we still played them 3 times in 2013/14 season

Much needed cash I'm afraid. If this was true, I'd be minded to support it as I'm always in favour of what's best for ARFC. But what it really means is 200 x £15 tickets = £3,000 x 2 games, so a total of £6,000 (and maybe an extra £2k for live streaming). To say there would be an extra 500 paying OF fans (so 700 in total) is ludicrous; as has been pointed out. They'd be lucky to get rid of the 200 allocation. Then you factor in that we lose a home match (in an 18 team league that's 17 home matches instead of the current 18) and also lose one of the home matches against the likes of QP and Stirling Albion, who bring good supports, then the financial gain (if any) is negligible. In football, as in life, if an offer of easy cash looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

The integrity of the game cast aside in favour of a very, very unlikely financial gain.

Consensus on news seems to be it'll get booted where it belongs. Into the long grass!

Is there an age limit as to who can play in the Colts team ? Is it say under 20's or could fringe 1st team players play ?

A non existent cash gain The only people in favour of this are the old firm and their fans Peter I honestly am thinking your on crack here, totally ludicrous again. I see hearts legal battle is a non starter and they have been attending all the championship club meetings in place of Dundee united
