I was talking to my Celtic supporting brother about the Partick Thistle 4-1 League Cup Final win over Celtic, he asked did I take him to the game, I said No, I was up at Brechin.
For the life of me, I can not remember the Rovers Brechin result. I looked up Robin's book, and the text says it was a home match, Rovers winning 4-1.
Am I right, is Robin right?
My memory is that Rovers left back, Tommy Martin, when the players came out after half time, came over to ask what the score was from Hampden, when we said 4-0 for Thistle, he refused to believe us.

It was a home game against Brechin Brian. I think I remember going to Hampden for League Cup final and then managing second half at Cliftonhill. But maybe time is playing tricks with my memory. Cup winning Thistle lost 7-2 at Aberdeen a week after their famous victory.

According to soccerbase.com we played Brechin twice in the 1971/72 season and the scores were 2-2 at Glebe Park and 1-1 at Cliftonhill. It says the previous season we beat them 4-1 at Cliftonhill and 2-0 at Glebe Park.
Unfortunately they don't specify exact dates.

Donald, David
that is a brilliant site for any football obsessed nerd who happens to be stuck in the house due to Covid with nowhere to go.....which is me.....which is us all at this point.....thank god for Mark Miller and live streaming.
Double checked Robin's book, page 292, season 70-71, says 'the six hundred fans were treated to a 4-1 home victory with (Mick) Green and (Sammy) Ferris scoring a double apiece'.
The book or the web site, which is correct?
Ronnie, do you remember the score of the match you think you saw?

There is a website called London Hearts that details results going back to the end of the second world war at least. It shows dates/crowds matches for individual teams. When you put in Albion Rovers results for 1971/72 it shows away to Brechin City and a 2-2 draw with a 354 crowd for 23 October 1971. Interesting to note that the crowd attendance is roughly similar to an away day at Brechin in 2020 !
