We had our AGM, a bit belatedly due to Covid-19, on Tuesday 15th December 2020 via zoom. We are getting good at this online communication! It was heartening to be able to report on the good work we have undertaken between the May 2019 AGM and December 2020.
Our activities in the 18 months have included: pre-pandemic holiday camps; schools numeracy project; Festive Friends at the Mint 2019 and FFIT together with the long standing Buddies, Memories Group and Thursday Club.
During the lockdown periods we have also been able to keep the Thursday Club going (tiers permitting), moved FFIT to a what's app group who covered over 2500 miles in steps following the great cup run of 1920 - and kept each others' spirits up during lockdown. We have added a walking group, a reading challenge project with local schools and of course our Christmas Festive Friends at Home 2020.
The successful bids for funds has seen us bring in over £16,000 - most of which we are spending to support the 100 year old stadium and our football club. We are also improving community facilities by upgrading the portacabin to a community hub (doubling as club shop on match days); creating the Hall of Fame in the lounge and a new training pitch behind the Coatbridge goals. All of these will be so welcome in a post-Covid world.
We have built partnerships with ARFC, the Supporters Trust, AR Youth Teams, Cliftonhill100 and most recently Men's Shed and each of these groups have a rep on the Board of Trustees.
Following the AGM the Trustees are:
OFFICE BEARERS: Isabelle Boyd Chairperson Mark Agnew Vice Chair Gordon Lind Secretary Lorraine Simpson Treasurer
TRUSTEES: Bill Walker, Bill Shields, Ronnie Boyd, Simon Delahey, Jim Gallagher, Eddie Hagerty and Fulton Macgregor MSP.
I would like to place on record here, my appreciation for all the work that so many people do for the common good of our community.
2021 promises to be a better year for us all and I will post our accounts and annual report on the new ARFC website when it goes live in a few weeks. We have a Rovers in the Community section. In the meantime, follow us. on Facebook and Twitter - and here too of course. There remains only one Community Trust task to do before Christmas holidays and that is to draw the raffle. That will be on Sunday.
Thanks to all who purchased tickets, thanks to all who donated money or prizes and good luck, everyone.
Isabelle
