The Reserves lost out to the odd goal in three last night to a lively Caledonian Braves side at Alliance Park. The hosts went ahead just before the interval following a quick break after defending a Rovers’ corner and added to their total midway through the second half with a clinical finish again after a break upfield. Ewan Sanchez was brought down in the box before the end and finished expertly from the spot and Rovers pushed forward from then on but did not do enough to wrest a draw from a Braves side which deserved its victory. Chris Smith, who was rarely tested, and centre backs Steven Meek and Sam Greenwood defended well against strong running French attackers, and with Paul Sweeney and Ryan Devine were the pick of the Rovers players. The four young subs all came on and performed well, with Craig Taylor in particular looking sharp on the right wing. Coincidentally Daniel Moran played for 65 minutes making his first start since June, and former Rovers’ player John Guthrie, now with the Braves came on at half time, with both ex-teammates making their returns following leg breaks in pre-season.
Smith, Kasule (Bamba), Meek, Greenwood, Sweeney, Moran (McGeachin), Trialist, Sanchez, Devine, Kouame (Taylor), McVey (McArthur).

Would love to see a few more of the reserves get a chance with the first team. Especially a certain Mr Kasule in a first team jersey again !
