Agree, we were utterly rubbish today. Too many players completely off form.
A game to forget.
Have to improve big style next week to have any chance of a victory.

Our in ability to attract experienced players to bolster our squad has been self evident at times this season. Today probably sums this up more than ever. It was the wise Alan Hansen who fameously said - you win nothing with kids !

At least that frees up some Saturdays where we could play our outstanding games against Linlithgow Rose, Civil Service Strollers and Edinburgh Uni, whom I believe are all out of this cup too. 3rd Feb, 2nd March and 30th March are all now available.

Didn’t think there was anything to worry about at half time but we just didn’t kick on. To be honest that result has been in the making for a few weeks. Without Bevan in the team we are bereft of any threat up front, (so it’s worrying his contract runs out after Xmas), but next Sat is a huge game for us so hopefully that performance will give them a shake and we can upset those upstarts from Bonnyrigg
Is it possible that we could go back to the slick football we played at the start of the season, (especially v Annan), and stop hoofing a hopeful ball up the park as it’s getting us no where fast at the moment

AFAIK Bevan is under contract till the end of the season. Your info usually top notch David so I’m happy with that He signed a 18 month contract - but as we know he will be off to another club in Jan, the only positive will be we get a few quid ( thats if he is fit of course ! ). What an utter embarrassment that result was. This will be the biggest budget we will have - no 'big' cup games at the start of next season less parachute payment. As sam has mentioned - start of the season we were playing brilliant football. It's all went pete tong fast.

It’s win next week, then a monumentally lucky draw, or bust.
Literally.

Maybe it will take a few seasons to adjust (let's face it, we're not going anywhere soon, also will we even be around in a few seasons) but this league, this level is awful. I was mystied by these cups but I get it now. By midpoint of season so many teams are already playing meaningless games they're trying to keep it interesting......if you stay in them. Let's face it, November and bar Scottish cup not sure where the interest is for me now. They need to make this a proper 5th tier, play off spots, no colt teams for it to feel legit/offer anything for the fans, otherwise you can become completely disengaged after a few moths because, by then, there's really nothing to play for.

The only thing worst than the weather today, was our performance. From the 1st minute we didn't get going & it went downhill rapidly from there. Well done to Kilwinning Rangers, they did their home work. played to their strengths, every player knew his job & they gave their manager 100%.

Not sure about it being a meaningless competition.
It was a competition where we could and should have progressed.
The league is already burst and barring a miraculous turn around in our fortunes we will soon be out of the Scottish.
The novelty of visiting new grounds and subsidised buses will come to an end and then what is left for the fans ?

How many trophies have Albion Rovers won during their 120+ years. These players had every chance of getting their hands on the South Challenge Cup and they blew it.. They could have gone down in history as cup winners with this club.

Defeat next week and there is nothing to play for till July 2024. The BOD must be regretting this open meeting cause I'll be stunned if there is an ounce of positivity that can come from it. Barring the miracle of a huge investment and a competent coaching team things are likely to keep getting worse.

Wasn’t at the game today due to over indulging last night! Sounds like I didn’t miss much. Massive match next Saturday now
