The Lanarkshire Cup was a beautiful piece of silverware plus I was chased all the way from Broomfield to Coatdyke by the Section B after a shock Rovers win one season.
Now that I look back I'm sure The Prof was one of the Aidrie fans involved.

I've just been perusing the rules of this competition and it's certainly not a money-spinner. The home side in each tie keeps all of the gate money but have to pay all of the expenses including referee and his assistants fees which might not leave them much in the way of profit from the gates anyway. The final is played at a neutral venue and the host club will get a fee from the league for use of the ground, the remaining gate money from this game goes to the league. The home side also sets the admission prices at their discretion. As Rovers only possible home fixture in this cup is the semi-final against one of Cumbernauld Colts, Edinburgh University, Caledonian Braves or Berwick Rangers we might be basking in glory but certainly not wallowing in heaps of cash. Read the rules here!
