Disappointed at Sean leaving - great Captain & player.
However, if a rich Club comes calling & offers you a huge pay increase to join them what would you do....

Thanks for great your service to the Rovers over the years Sean and best of luck in the future. I agree with Ian it's a good move for him and I can't blame him as their a good chance he could be playing back in League 2 next season.

He won't be allowed to play inthe promotion play offs for them, to take part in the play offs all players must be signed before the close of the spfl transfer window

To be offered a decent wage and a very good chance to be playing at a higher level next season is a no-brainer. Good luck to Sean, he never let us down and thoroughly deserves this opportunity.

They've already won the league but may not win the playoffs! Sean could move for nothing in May. Or has the EK Club secretary made a wee mistake ? I would imagine this won't happen now If the paperwork has still to be signed. Anyway If he has moved - all the best to Sean - what a fantastic Albion Rovers captain and player.

He was indeed a great player and captain, but I am not in the least bit pleased about this depressing outcome. A real kick in the teeth for us. EK can't beat us on the park, so yet again, they just splash the cash generated by their huge fan base. [Aye right] Why on earth has that ghastly outfit bought him if he can't play in the playoffs? Will be funny, in a way, if they foul up and stay in the same division as us.

I honestly don’t get why this is seen as a “kick in the teeth” - Sean owes Albion Rovers nothing and has been a loyal servant during some very difficult years. When we won (bought) the League in 2014/2015 with a limited fanbase, I don’t recall such anger. I’m actually going to give credit to EK, in light of your “gastly outfit” comment. Despite there being some concerns about the source of their funding, there seems to be a very strong community ethos behind the scenes. They made the visiting Directors very welcome on Boxing Day and were extremely friendly and kind. There was also a significant number of young people with ASN in attendance and they all seemed to be a part of the Club. I was impressed with that side of things.

Massive loss to a pretty solid defence. Be interesting to see who fills that gap now and how the rest of the defence acts. Big shoes to fill. Only positive is plenty time to train his replacement or find 1 of similar quality to come in before next season starts.

It’s better to get a fee for him now than nothing in May. Would be different if we had a chance of winning the League, but we don’t, so it’s a no brainer. Good luck to Sean anyway - 150+ appearances is great service from any player.

Rovers are/have/always will be a selling club. If the rumour is true it’s a decent fee. From EK’s perspective it’s probably type of player that would meet there ambitions of playing in L2. If it didn’t work out for him I’d welcome him back to Cliftonhill in the future no problem at all.

Served Rovers well and I'm sure financially and opportunities wise it's a step up. Good luck to him.

If we are getting offered cash at this point of the season with nothing to play for, for a player whod leave for free in the summer we should be biting their hand off.
Sad to see him go great player, lets hope we can use the money to repair for next season.
I really dislike EK and the way they go about things, as Jordan has pointed out we also splashed the cash to win a league so its a bit rich. But thats football fandom somtimes.

A bit like Joe and was always destined to go someday - did not think it would be now thought more end of season . Was a great servant to the club and follows a long line of players who will be fondly remembered in the years to come . Was surprised nobody from the Scottish league snapped him up at the start of the season. Will need to try to ensure we keep a firm nucleus of this squad for the foundation for next year. Will be difficult to hold on to some of the rest but we always unearth talent in the country.
