On this day, 30 th March 1973, 51 years ago, there was an explosion at RB Tennents Meadow Works on Calder street, Whifflet, which claimed the lives of three good men, Jimmy Murphy, Harry Bate and Robert Allen. Harry Bate was an Albion Rovers season ticket holder. RIP Harry, Jimmy and Robert.

My dad worked there all his life Grant and knew all 3 of them.

My dad worked there all his life Grant and knew all 3 of them. I worked at RBT from 10th August 1970 until end of May 1989.....knew your dad....and your grandad Jimmy - he was foreman melter on the Electric furnace at Whifflet Works
