Some really bad PR emerging on Social Media over the weekend directed at Rovers.
Scott saying he has had not so much as phone call from anyone at the Club to advise if new contract was being offered or he was being let go.
Then goes on to say how treatment like this can affect a footballers mental health....
Lindsay Hamilton also saying no contact from anyone at ARFC.
Story in todays Record as well I believe. Think he has now been contacted.

In PR...be it good or bad news......the key is to get in first.....
Lindsay Hamilton joined East Fife a few weeks ago (before John Brogan`s appointment) so quite why was he expecting anyone to call from ARFC regarding his position escapes me.

I think all players being released at the end of the season should have a call from someone at the club, or a chat, to say they are not being offered new terms.
I don't for one second think that a player who decides to move on would necessarily inform the club he is leaving that he is signing for a new Club.

Difficult situation when the club was between managers - offer of terms could be made then new manager comes along and says no way.

Statement from the club. would have been issued earlier but people have been on holiday and unaware of the press.
"The club would like to issue the following statement.
All player and coach contracts expired at end of season 2017/18. As soon as our new manager was appointed, the club secretary made contact with all players via their internal mobile training App to invite them to meet and have discussions with the new manager. There were also discussions between individual players on the clubs’ future plans. Some players attended the meeting with the new manager, some made different arrangements with John while others declined the invitation and a few didn’t respond. We at that point presumed those not contacting the club did not wish to be involved with ARFC next season. Scott McLaughlin has now spoken to the club and we intend to move on and look forward to next season. We at Albion Rovers pride ourselves on being an open, community minded club and wish Scott all the best for his future and thank him for his time at Albion Rovers FC. "

Would have helped if the club statement had been released after the story was broken by the Advertiser last week. We seem to be stumbling from one PR disaster to another at the moment.
And another thing what happens when a player tells the club they have fallen out of love with football then sign for Annan Athletic the next week.

As I understand it Rovers were NOT asked for their side of the story when the Tiser were running it, indeed the club tried to contact Mark Pirie of the paper but he never got back to them. In this Rovers are damned if they do, damned if they don`t

No surprise that they weren't asked for their side of the story. The Record is as bad as the Sun these days and sadly they now own all the local papers including the Airdrie and Occasionally Coatbridge Advertiser.

Scott McLaughlin says the club acted "unprofessional" and that could affect a players mental health.
Well Scotts performances affected my mental health week in week out.
Roll on the new campaign

Isn't it funny how yet another 'story' criticising the board has appeared in the national press? Are we really to believe that the player in question just happened to phone up his friendly local journalist?

I think the Scott Mclaughlin story was probably picked up by the Record off Twitter at the weekend ...
Possible mole in the camp though. My money is on Tee, Bucky or The Prof in that order....
