Has anyone noticed the huge dominance of Airdrie on the back page of the'Airdrie and Coatbridge' Advertiser? Six weeks in a row we have hadva tiny column compared to huge headline coverage of Airdrie. Not good enough, and quite deliberate.

Nothing new in that, improved helluva lot when Colin Paterson was the sports reporter but since he moved on it has gone downhill.

I think it's deteriorated significantly since Mark Pirie took time out due to a serious illness. As Grant says it certainly improved radically when Colin Paterson who preceded Mark took over.

Like all small , local newspapers, the `Tiser will be struggling. Does anyone from `Vers actually engage with the paper, or do they just sit around expecting coverage...maybe Airdrie are getting coverage because the are proactive........

I was just thinking that today, that we are not getting enough coverage through this "paper" for quite some time.Whether it is through lack of interest-(on their part),it's seems we are forgotten, whereas somebody who cuts their hair off in the name of charity, for their 6th granny that died, gets more column inches than our wee team.It is lazy reporting all day long from this so called tabloid.

Rovers relationship with the Tizer has been chequered in the past which may or may not have resulted in the coverage being scant. Coverage when Colin Paterson was sports reporter increased as Rovers improved under Paul Martin which culminated in that unforgettable day at Annan. The following season in Div 1 in got more fraught as Paul Martin took umbrage if I remember to a Terracing Talk column by an Airdrie fan. I think the relationship got worse under James Ward where simply he would not return Colin's phone calls. Naturally Airdrie are getting more coverage at the moment as they have spent a bit and looking to have a better season while we play Russian Roulette with our SPFL status.

I do a Rovers Fan Blog every week in the Tizer - have done for quite a few years now. I would disagree that things have go worse though - even Colin used to admit that Airdrie would always get more coverage since they have a bigger fanbase. We got more coverage during Colin's tenure because we had some success in those days and there was stuff to write about.

A 'bigger fan base' (we get 250/300; they get 700) is a totally unacceptable reason. It is not called the 'Airdrie Advertiser', and coverage should be equal. I'll stop buying it, if this is given as a reason when I write to them.

Over the years Airdrie have almost always had more coverage than Rovers but I think the reason for this is simply that for a vast majority of the time they have been in a higher league than us.
I don't have too much of a problem with this. We are where we are in footballing terms and have to accept this.
I think Colin Paterson had a genuine affection for the club and as a QOTS supporter was very aware of the lower league scene.
Personally I stopped buying it years ago when my court appearances became less and less frequent and the thrill of seeing my name in print wore off.
