Again I beg to differ. It's not the decision making or set pieces. It's the fact we are absolutely cr@p and have a team full of players who are not up to L2 standard. It was a master class in allowing the opposition all the possession in the world knowing they could play til next October and not score. That was all they had to do and indeed that is how to grind out 3 points and move on. And whilst it's in my head, QP had a perfectly good goal chalked off. Our keeper didn't gather the ball and their defender knocked it over the line. At 2-0 it didn't really matter tbf. Fair enough. Agree to disagree. Ive moved on. Its the next appointment thats going to make or break it. And whether we like it or not it will be with the majority of the current squad. 9th position will be the aspiration then next season 22 players out and 22 in again. A year of our lives we are not getting back. Over to the board.

I saw in the chairman’s programme notes that Fisher was helping with preparing the team, as he’s cost the team badly and is now suspended should we make him take the team for next weeks trip to Peterhead as punishment.

Brogan's legacy today. A clear out is required. d7 - You got the cash to pay off all the current players & then agree contracts with the new guys?? Prof - you're missing the point. We don't need to pay these guys off, we just need to 'persuade' them to leave. Contracts torn up, no pay off needed. That has to be the first thing the manager does so we need someone with that experience. As well as all the usual football related questions - like: "Do you have the relevant coaching badges for the role?", lol, we need to be asking things like the following: Committee: Have you ever had to persuade players and staff to move on from a club where you were manager? New manager: Yes. Committee: Perfect, that's just what we're looking for. Tell me exactly how you did that, when, what did you say, to whom - names and clubs, how did you say it, how effective was it and how quickly did you get them out the door? New manager: Big explanation, hopefully. If it's all hypothetical nonsense then that is no use. Specifics are what is required. Times, places, names. Committee: Great. What about people who wouldn't go and more or less told you to f*ck off, what did you do there? New manager: Another big explanation. More specifics. At least that way we can say we appointed someone with experience of the type of thing we need. Most of these guys probably jus want to play football with their mates on a Saturday. If they get paid for it then so much the better. Kicking their heels on the bench or in the stand for £25 a week isn't going to be much fun. I don't think it'll take much to get them shifted.

You’re forgetting that there’s a transfer window that’s closed until January and Brogan has used 5 of the 8 permitted loan signings , don’t get rid of too many we’ll end up with Prof up front

I thought it was only 4 loan signings and with the chap from East Fife joining they are all used up. Good point though. We are stuck with the majority of the squad. Anyone sitting in the house without a contract right now will be there for a reason. There is no money to pay for transfers thus any incoming manager will be getting the best out of what is there and the in/out cycle starts next summer again.

PJ made 5. 3 boys signed on one day plus one of the Alloa boys is a loan deal

By the time the new manager gets in, assesses the quality (!) of the squad, has the conversations etc it will be nearly January anyway. What better time to make a fresh start?
There's certainly truth in that anyone sitting in the house just now without a contact is there for a reason - that applies to the manager too btw. But come January there will be guys looking for clubs - for all sorts of reasons. We just need someone who can identify the better ones and get them on board.
I'm not saying it'll be easy but it needs done.

Hopefully the difference with the Manager is one of the crop of Manager sackings - Alan Archibald?? or someone looking to get back in the game. It will be true that some players with maybe League 1 or higher experience become available in January. Here's hoping.

maybe our timing has been lucky even though 14 teams have lost their managers already we're now the only club in Scotland with a vacancy so we are the only option for any managers gagging to get back into it

I'm actually not as deflated as I thought I might have been after Saturday. The two first half goals we lost exhibited the type of defending you would only normally see at Under 7 level but we were the better team in the 1st half and showed some nice touches.
Despite all evidence to the contrary I think there are one or two good players in that side and I believe a core of players that a decent manager can get results from.
I thought the Rovers number 3 (Wilson, guy with the shaggy hair)played well but we are a team devoid of confidence.
Once or twice in that first had we had clear cut chances in the 6 yard box but were always looking for another touch instead of someone just hitting it.
Second half was a non event with QP never really under any pressure and our only chance was when 2 of our own players managed to tackle each other on the QP goal line to prevent us from scoring !
Soon as Fisher got a yellow he should have been subbed as he was always going to get a 2nd one and his frustration was obvious.
Find it inexcusable that our most experienced player has picked up 2 consecutive red cards. He looks like a player who would rather be playing his football anywhere else than at Rovers.
My main anger is based on the fact that we should have made a managerial change about 6 weeks ago and we have lost valuable time.
I wasn't at the Cup game but can honestly say there was no lack of fight or endeavour from the players on Saturday.
It all comes down to getting the right man in this week. Probably the most crucial managerial appointment in the history of ARFC.
Also very poor crowd on Saturday.

Thought there were was some decent play in some areas on Saturday with not much up front. No3 had a good game and deserved his man of the match. The rest of the defence is dire and that's our biggest problem. The number 4 is a bombscare. Having said that they're no worse last year's Perry led squad but at least they're cheaper!

We had a bit more presence when the big guy we got from East Fife came on.
The big bald guy centre half for QP was immense. If we had him we would save at least 2 goals a game.
