I honestly think if we wore this strip for the rest of the season we would survive. Attachments:

Tommy the strip looks like it has been through the wash quite a few times. I remember a very bright yellow, very bright. Might even say primrose.
A distinctive shirt for sure.
How was the strip on Saturday received? My son could not make up his mind what colours it was - mainly black and then yellow/green?

It would be great if, in what could be our final season in league football, we reintroduced one of our classic strips.
Perhaps one of our wealthier fans like Tee Kasule, Marc Millar or Bucky could run with this idea.

The 78 strip is a cracker. What was the reason for change from blue to yellow?

I believe it was in protest at Rangers FC trying to get Rovers and another few Cubs kicked out of the league.
It was decided to change from Royal Blue to Primrose and white. Grant,Tee or some other ancient fan can elaborate:-
Glasgow Rangers attempt at re-structuring happened a little later than you suggest. It was in 1964, by which time the C Division was long deceased. Rangers were looking to have a 2-league system with 16 clubs in each division - which meant getting rid of five clubs. Berwick Rangers, Stranraer, Stenhousemuir, Brechin City and Albion Rovers were the clubs they selected for the chop.
Rangers called a meeting of eleven first division clubs at Ibrox in early April 1964 to discuss the proposal. Later that month they called another Ibrox meeting, this time inviting the 32 clubs that would form the new League, but not inviting the other five.
The five contested the Rangers proposal in Court, arguing it was not competent because the criteria for selecting the five clubs were flawed. The case was argued in the High Court by Robert Turpie, a solicitor and committee member at Stenhousemuir FC. He gained an interim interdict on behalf of 'the five' which temporarily blocked the Rangers proposal.
Rangers came back to Court in October 1964, backed by 26 clubs. By this time several clubs, including Celtic, had decided to support 'the five'. Rangers argued that they should be allowed to submit a proposal to the SFL AGM to wind-up the League and form a new one with fewer clubs. This time Lord Avonside found in favour of Rangers.
'The five' plus their supporting clubs appealed to the Inner House of the Court of Session. It emerged that Rangers had threatened various clubs - Dumbarton, Alloa, Arbroath, Ayr, Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, East Fife, Montrose, Queen's Park, Raith and Stirling Albion - that if they did not support Rangers, then they would become one of the five to be expelled with one of the original five being saved.
The Appeal by 'the five' was thrown out by the Inner Court, but Celtic were now open and vocal in their opposition to the move. Chairman Bob Kelly made several statements in support of the 'wee clubs'. Most other clubs were now against the Rangers proposal.
Rangers were now looking for a way out of the mess they had created. To save face, and more expense in legal fees, they did a deal with 'the five'. Rangers were allowed to put their proposal to an EGM of the SFL, but with an amendment tabled by Brechin City. Rangers proposal was that they should be allowed to table a resolution to wind-up the SFL. Brechin's amendement was basically that if any such proposal was carried, then the clubs concerned could not form a new league for a period of three years.
The proposal, with amendment, were passed.
Many within the clubs saw Berwick's win over Rangers in 1967, and Stenhousemuir's win at Ibrox in 1972, as 'revenge' of a sort.

I remember it well Tommy, even although I was only 12 at the time...but...Rovers were already playing in primrose shirts. My understanding regarding the colour change was brought about by Tommy Fagan thinking that if Rovers stopped playing in blue then more people from Coatbridge would come and watch their `local` team. Great write up on the proposed `restructuring` back in 1963 btw Tommy. Me and my wee pals got our pictures in the `Tiser at the time holding up a home made placard saying `Don`t axe Rovers` . Jeez, I can even remember their names - Nigel Craik, Stuart McCallum and Billy McPherson

Just added a wee bit to my post....placard long gone btw .....54 years ago....LOL....maybe folks will realise how passionate I am about the club and its future. Remember the time too, when Tommy Fagan got rid of manager Ralph Brand there was demonstrations against him and his board, particularly up at Stirling Albion, the first match after Ralphie resigned. TF came out and remonstrated with us...one guy Andy G...even challenged TF to a `square go`. Now, when our very existence is at stake it`s all quiet. Changed days indeed.
