I am conscious that I must sound like a broken record by this point in the season, but I won’t hold back saying what (I think) needs said about this woeful campaign and the poor decisions that have left us where we are.
Season 2018/2019 must be one of the worst in living memory for so many fans of Albion Rovers Football club and there is still the final - and perhaps most brutal - act to go. Then, I do genuinely fear, the curtain will fall on 127 years of history - not all good, far from it, but history nonetheless.
And who’d have dreamt it? A few seasons ago our place in League 1 (let alone the SPFL) seemed secure. We were riding on the crest of a wave. Fighting every week.
Now we look set to be banished from the SPFL to a league that many believe is as difficult as Alcatraz to escape without a substantial cash injection.
Brogan was an unmitigated disaster and is, without doubt, the reason that we never really had a chance from the get go. Thanks to the 3 man ‘committee’ for that wonderful decision based on a strong CV in senior foot...oh no, wait! And, with our very survival at fate, we appoint a rookie with no managerial experience. Good call, guys, good call.
No cup run. No extra cash. Flat out denial from the BOD. Lies. False promises. The list goes on and on and on and on and on...
We can’t really blame Kevin Harper. We would have welcomed anyone with open arms when Brogan departed. But, now, his record is worse than JB. There are 12 games to go. The fate of the club hangs in the balance. I urge the BOD to think again. We will be in the play-offs come the end of the season, but it does not have to be a foregone conclusion.
Chin up. Keep clapping.
“Unlucky, guys. We had more of the ball, but! The pitch didn’t help. Refereeing decisions were awful, eh? We have no debt. Clap. Should have had a penalty, would have been a different game.”
Yawn. Honest to f*ck. Brutal.
