How anyone can say VAR is good for the game is beyond me - an absolute pile of goat's urine That referee was so far out of her depth! To allow Argentina to take the free kick as our sub was coming on to the park, which led to the penalty, then VAR uses a camera angle from BEHIND the goal to see if her feet were off the line. There is a still of the ball being struck and 1 foot looks level with the goal line! Then the ref ends the game at least 4 mins early. A disaster from start to finish.

Would like to know why in all BBC broadcasts including alba why no mention was made of the missing injury time. Also if any official protest was made post match by Scotland and if not why not. Game should be replayed. Shambolic. Why football can't make var work when rugby has it near perfect says everything about those who run football at all levels.

Rugby stop the clock at key incidents hence they never have added time. Its always 80 mins (until the ball goes out of play). Another good practice football should adopt. Saves "guessing" the added time plus removes players rolling around for 5 minutes thinking they are wasting time.

Great game, exciting, thought a draw was a fair result, the VAR decisions were right, it was a penalty, the goalie did move ahead of the goal line when she saved the penalty.
But really, 3 up, 16 minutes to go, Scotland should not have let them come back into the game, the VAR decisions should not have become so crucial.
Impressed by Argentina when they played Japan and England, more so than when Scotland played the other two. Good luck to Argentina in future rounds.
Yes, referee stopped the game early, she did seem a little out of her depth over the piece.
Stopping the clock as in rugby is such a sensible idea that there is probably no chance of football adopting it.

Great points all round from everyone but to lose 3 goals in approximately 17 mins, and not be able to win at least one of 3 games, suggests we are going home as we deserve to,although there were mitigating circumstances.

Nice of them to give me a ref to rant at during the close season! Got to keep up the training regime to be in full flow for the new season! 😠

Problem with stopping the clock in football is if you watch a game the ball is only in play for 60 is mins, but I dont understand why they wouldn't stop the clock when using VAR

Great point Chris. They should at least stop the clock for VAR. Not seen much football with VAR but the Scotland game must have cost them 4-5 minutes

Board was held up at 90 mins for injury time of 5 mins. The incompetent referee didnt play it. Scandalous on top of everything else that took place.

In any other VAR game I've watched time is added on to account for the decision process. A total scandal that this didn't happen. I've said for years (ask young Sam!) that there should be a clock controlled by the referee on display at every match. It's cheap (unlike VAR and Goal Line Technology) and would cut-out time wasting completely. Ironically, two Scotland players were booked for blatant time-wasting in the last 10 mins of that game which kind of sums up the mentality when Argentina scored.
In another piece of irony, the referee was actually an ex-player who'd played in the WWC - so no excuses for "knowing the rules but not the game"

I think that VAR is in danger of ruining the fundamentals of our game. The ways it is applied seems haphazard and confusing. Is our football match going to be governed from beyond the pitch and in the hands of technology rather than 22 players answerable to an on field referee ? I think we have created a Frankenstein monster here.

I think we have created a Frankenstein monster here. Totally agree, I like the way Rugby does it. The on field referee has to ask the video referee (for example) “is there any reason why I can’t give a try?” For me if someone says to the referee “I think you should look at that again” they have basically told him/her you’ve got that wrong and need to change your decision.
