As above, this morning two different folk have told my wife that Rovers no longer exist.
No manager, true, no players, not sure of situation with contracts.
I assume that this is baloney, Coatbridge Past and Present mention going out of business from time to time, did hear Tam Cowan saying on Off the Ball something about the stories coming out of Cliftonhill. These things can build up their own momentum, better to be quoshed here and now.
Think ARFC should say something official so that the rumours can be quashed. Even stating that the request for a manager has received x amount of applications would point out Rovers are alive and well.

Let's put this to bed and shame on tam Cowan for repeating unsubstantiated rumours. There should be an independent enquiry!

Let's get Rangers to organise the independent inquiry.
On second thoughts.....

I think that every time there is a Financial crisis in Scottish Football then our club invariably comes into the mix ! Fake News as President you know who would say !

Nanook I think it would be a complete waste of the board's time to respond to nonsense rumours with an official club statement. There were rumours the other week and over the last few years Coatbridge Past and Present have had a number of that's the Rovers gone under variety stories. Official statements to say this week's rumours or next week's rumours are not true would be meaningless and might even provoke the no smoke without fire response. There have been dozens of statements from clubs these past few weeks and have shone very little real light on the problems facing Scottish football. Better to say something when there is something to say. As to Off the Ball well unfortunately that is just lazy journalism: the sad fact is if you want to talk about the issues facing lower league clubs then the Rovers are easy just to pull off the shelf as an example even though the stories are nonsense. Fair point but suspect that the rumours of the past few weeks have caused this to reach the point of being repeated on off the ball. Lazy journalism but also damaging to the club. Still feel the record needs put straight as fans will be worried.

Nah, let the rumours persist as it helps with the Just Giving donations.

Don't agree on this occasion, sorry. These are difficult times and the last thing fans need to hear is this stuff. It needs corrected.

I can see your point Jimbo42 but I really think the board would end up in a situation where they could be responding to this kind of thing on a regular basis. It is interesting that the clubs who are firing out statements like bullets out of a gun that are the ones who are in bother.
I think our board have played a blinder by quietly going about the business of making sure we get through these difficult times and only making pronouncements on the official website when it is necessary eg to announce Kevin's departure, to advertise the manager's post, to thank fans for the generous justgiving response and to announce the postponement of the annual dinner.
I would be more worried if it was a statement a day like some clubs. Remember the most important statement at a football club is the bank statement.
All the best

I have to agree with Ronnie here.
If the club put out a statement every time someone thought we were out of business then , we'd have to put out a "everything is fine" statement everyday which much like the "Vote of Confidence" for a manager sends out the opposite.
We can't cater to people who wouldn't maybe give the most cursory of background checks on information ! Wouldn't a professional football team going out of business maybe make the news ? Its like when taxi drivers tell you the stadium has closed down because the Rigart sign is up there. These aren't people who were about to come through the gate.
I'd say selling 50/50s , parting with a manager and advertising for a manager are signs of life enough at the moment.
As for Off The Ball - I presume these were coming out of the stories in the record a few weeks ago on (I think) Colin's quotes. Personally i dont think these harm the club every club is in danger just now. As David says they probably work as a nice pointer towards people giving the the JG page or buying a 50/50 or wondering how they can help.

One point about Off the Ball, they do call themselves “The Most Petty and Ill-informed Football Show on Radio”

Maybe a statement could be posted and pinned permanently at the top of the message board! 😁
