The draw for the 1st round of the Scottish Cup was held this morning (odd timing to say the least).
The match will be held on Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day), unless the BBC want to show it live and Rovers have been drawn against Buckie Thistle!

This brings back memories of 1979? when Rovers won with a last minute winner to avoid the long trip north!

Takes me back as well Roy. My first Scottish cup match I attended with my old man . December 1977 I think. Jim McCabe last minute header.
Am I right in saying the HFL has just started so no idea how good they are.

Talking of showing it live, can we do that? Saw some mutterings yesterday about the previous round not being able to be streamed by the clubs due to rights.

Indeed the HFL teams have only played 0-2 games. Buckie have managed just the one game and they won that.

Wow, Buckie Thistle again, huh?! One of my favourite Rovers' memories was the cup tie at Cliftonhill. Crowd was given as 889, but season tickets got you into all games then, so the actual crowd was far bigger methinks. 89 and a bit minutes and Jim McCabe headed the winner. Scenes!! Cliftonhill went mental.

I remember the travelling fans saying we'd need to look up how to get to Buckie and then they were silenced!

We were then robbed by Morton at Cliftonhill in the next round. 3,500 crowd. The Advertiser described the 0-1 loss as 'grand larceny'. I couldn't agree more.

I was in the old car park across the road...a big furniture van pulled in, back door opened and about a dozen Buckie fans emerged, having been sat on chairs, settees etc in the van. Then a guy emerged and emptied out two steaming buckets of........

Really hope that's not the case as it would make the game a financial burden for both teams , particularly Buckie with travel costs. That doesn’t even consider the fans not seeing the game, so its probably true knowing the SFA 😂😂😂

The SFA pay teams travelling expenses for any matches where the teams are over 40 miles apart!

I have a feeling the live match will be Dundonald v Queens Park - the history/romance as well as how Queens have started.

Why couldn’t this round have been scheduled for Sunday 27 December instead of Boxing Day?

Boxing day is a Saturday and fixtures are traditionally scheduled for boxing day
