Just had a phone call from a good friend to tell me that John Mcguinness Rovers left back from 1957 to 1961 has died from dementia. Played many a game of golf with John who had a five handicap at Easter Moffat. That terrible disease claim another life.

John played just before my time but I heard great reports about him. Condolences to his family. Ronnie

So sorry to hear that news, John worked in the maintenance department at RB Tennents Whifflet Works when I started there in 1970. Think he also played for Stirling Albion. Condolences to his family and friends.

Andy M tells me he was also a keen bowler until about 2 years ago when his health deteriorated.

Stirling Albion put out a nice tribute to John today. He played for them for a number of years after he left us in 1961.
