It’s one of those games of finding a way to win. I wasn’t at Broadwood on Saturday but see a few folk complaining that we are a hardwatch this now. With such a young team and the winter months setting in it can happen- you go off the boil but just need to grind it out and I think we have done that the last 2 games. Again if we keep a clean sheet we’ll get the points we deserve.

If we are serious about climbing the table then only a win will do. 2-0 Rovers.

First half Connolly made a great save but that was the highlight.
Second half we were the better team and hit the woodwork 3 times. Better across the park with McMahon, McCaw and Arnie top picks.
Fagan solid at the back as usual and Prince grew into the game.
Joseph seemed dangerous at times but never made it count.
2 points dropped in the end.

Certainly much better performance by Rovers in the 2nd half. Embarrassing having substitute Tran booked while warming up for kicking the ball back to the Gala goalie before it had actually gone out of play.
No sign of Joe Bevan, I wonder if he is injured.

Game of 2 halves, Gala had the best of the 1st, we had the best of the 2nd.
Remember one good Connelly save, but don't remember him otherwise having too much to do. Was behind the goal, the keeper certainly lets the defence know what he wants, no shrinking violet. Several people said Gala over played the ball, agree, lots of passing, possession, but not a lot of product. Just before half time, there was a great cross in that Fernie somehow put by the post, 1-0 to us at that point would have been daylight robbery.
Rovers were a different team in the second half. Their keeper made one great save from Joseph, and was pretty busy over the piece. Post hit twice, bar once, should really have made more of the dominance. Connelly got a sore one, towards end was a bit late going out for a through ball, big sub crashed into him, felt he was entitled to go for the ball, sub got booked.
At HT would have settled for 0-0, but by FT 2 points dropped.
The Tran booking was a performance by the ref, was there a ref supervisor in the crowd? Ball was not out, sub Tran entered field of play as ball was about to go out to play it to their keeper. Rules is the rules, silly booking. Tran will not do that again.

Defensively we seem pretty sound - very little goals against with matches played. However our lack of goal scoring seems to be our undoing. Need a bit of creativity and know how up front - guys to work a bit of telepathy and a bit gungho at times. In cricketing terms a Glenn Maxwell type who can scrap his corner and gets results. Our catch up games are running out and no more reviews up our sleeves !
