Shotts - The Land That Time Forgot. Good luck to the lad Mrs. Welshrover comes from Shotts. First time I went there, would have been the 80's, there was still a bar that didn't admit women, had no women's loo etc.

Worked in the Airdrie Savings Bank branch in Shotts. You were advised to always carry a shovel for the snow, that applied throughout the year. The main thing I remember about the customers, they were nice enough, was that they never spoke quietly, always seemed to be shouting.

For Shotts folks they don’t call it Shotts but “the Shotts”.

To be fair to Shotts, visiting there to see the in-laws was how I took a likening for Rovers.
Each time we went up to Shotts, whilst Mrs. Welshrover was going around the relatives I would take in a different Scottish game.
After experiencing the "delights" of Celtic, Rangers, Airdrie, Kilmarnock, Clyde etc I eventually turned up at Coatbridge and formed an immediate bond with the club. No idea why, just my sort of club.
I have been suffering since🙂
