I used to work with the guy who owns Gartcairn's wife a few eons ago. At the time I was running an amateur football team and her now husband, approached us as he was interested in helping out. Sat and listened to what he had to say, one of his ideas was to buy the players boots, fine, then he said we could PAY the players £10 a week. I was flabbergasted, we could hardly make ends meet and here is a guy wanting us to pay players. I left not long after due to working Sundays, about a year later Gartcairn Academy was born, missed opportunity? perhaps, I just find it strange that GC are putting the interests of a club first before the interests of a community.

I left not long after due to working Sundays, about a year later Gartcairn Academy was born, missed opportunity? perhaps, I just find it strange that GC are putting the interests of a club first before the interests of a community. my son played with them a few years ago. Very very well ran club. Spent lots of time chatting to Robert (his daughter played in the same team) - he has big ambitions. they aren't far behind us now ... they certainly didn't pay the kids mind you ! they have a fantastic network of parents/businesses who all support the club. The above development has many hoops to jump through - Their application has been going on for years - but having had a wee read one of the many 'hoops' was having a community Sports hub....
