The draw for the first and second rounds of the SPFL Trust Trophy (AKA The Challenge Cup) was made this afternoon.
In the first round Rovers will face Hibernian B away. This match is scheduled to be played on Tuesday or Wednesday 30th/31st July and is highly unlikely to be played at their Easter Road home. Rovers have never played Hibs B team before.
If they prevail in the first round Rovers shall face either Cowdenbeath or Kilmarnock B at Cliftonhill in the second round . This game is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday 13th/14st August.
These 2 rounds are regionalised and all B teams had to draw a non-B team in round one. Should Rovers make it to round three of the competition like they did last season there is no regionalisation. Round three matches will be scheduled for "the weekend of" Saturday 7th September when Rovers are due to visit Cowdenbeath on league duty - the cup game would likely take precedence.
For the first time in a few years this cup has only Scottish teams participating.
