Difficult to predict this so early but I'll say 1-1 with Rovers winning on penalties (thankfully there is no extra-time played these days in this competition).

Top effort. Ross Connolly 2 saves at the penalties. Michael Paton equaliser and winning penalty. Thrilling stuff, and Rovers go through to the next round. Delighted at this news.

Was a pretty entertaining game, both teams gave it a go.

Everything positive from rovers came from Dom McMahon, with Bright giving the 2 Hibs centre half's a torrid time, the first goal was purely down to bright pace and strength. He brushed off tackles all night.

Hibs were a decent side who were fast on the break

With 3 mins to play Paton missed a penalty only to pop up in the 90th min with the equaliser, before scoring the winning penalty

Interesting stuff, well mostly!

Dom McMahon slots home a Bright Prince cross after a great run by the big man. 3 minutes later Hibs are level. 8 minutes into the 2nd half and a Kennedy corner was headed into the home net by Callum Home. With 72 mins on the clock Hibs score a 2nd and 5 mins later a 3rd from a very tight angle that seemed impossible.

All seemed lost when the referee awarded Rovers a penalty which Hibs types claimed was never one on around the 90 minute mark. Up stepped Michael Paton who struck it low to the 'keepers left and he happily smothered it.

2 mins into injury time it was Michael Paton who scored to make it 3-3 within a crowded penalty box. The referee blew for full-time soon after and it was down to penalties to decide the tie as no extra-time is played in this competition.

Rovers scored their first 2 and Hibs saw their first 2 saved by Connolly. Rovers 3rd was saved. Connolly also saved the 3rd Hibs kick but the officials said there had been an infringement and ordered the kick retaken which this time was scored. Each team scored their next penalties and perhaps fittingly it was that man Michael Paton who scored the winning penalty.

In the 2nd round we face fellow LL side Cowdenbeath at Cliftonhill, presumably on Tuesday 13th August (rather than the Wed 14th) as they beat Kilmarnock b 4-2 at Central Park tonight.

Not exactly playing a glamour team but a wins a win and hopefully this helps build confidence for bigger challenges.

Enjoyed the game, despite having to leave before the penalties to get the train home. The midfield work well together. Kennedy and Kirkpatrick give Dom more space and time. The right hand side worked well, linking up with McCaw, who was excellent. Bright was superb. Very impressed with Nathan Brown. Works hard, skillful, should be a good addition. The team have more dig and steel this season. Kennedy has a threat from corners, linking with Calum Home. Young Adam from St Johnstone looked sharp and quick. The minus point was losing three goals. One was a great piece of skill, the others were simply about being caught in behind. Following last night and Saturday, I suspect that will be the team's key weakness this season. Hibs fans around me were impressed with Bright, McCaw and Dom's performances.
