Albion Rovers FC – New Manager announced…
Albion Rovers FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Brian Kerr as the club’s new manager. Kerr (36) steps up from his current role as the coach of Rovers Under-20 side. Rovers Chairman Ronnie Boyd said: ‘Brian has done a great job with the under-20 development side, and we are confident he can do an equally good job with our first team ‘Brian played the game at a very high level both north and south of the border and earned three caps for Scotland, but he also knows the demand of Division 1 football.’ The former Newcastle, Motherwell and Hibs midfielder hopes to announce the appointment of an assistant manager later this week. Kerr said: ‘I’m delighted to get the chance to manage Albion Rovers, and I’ll do everything in my power to continue the progress the club has made in recent years. ‘My work will start immediately, as I look to put a squad and backroom staff in place for next season’.

He certainly did go a good job for the development squad and hopefully will so equally well for the 1st team. Good luck BK. At least he can get an early start on filling the jerseys for next term.

Best of luck to Brian, he has a tough job but a huge opportunity. If he can keep the Rovers up it will arguably be a bigger achievement than anything Darren Young did at the club.
With Queen's Park, East Fife, Stranraer, Arbroath and the L2 play-off winner in the league it can be done!

Good appointment in my opinion. Another young up and coming manager with good experience and contacts on the game. Not too different to a certain Darren young in terms of circumstances of appointment. He'll be wanting to make a name for himself also and will see it as a good opportunity on a personal level. Hopefully this will work in our favour. Inevitably need a degree of luck but overall well done to club for nailing this one down early doors. Planning can start now for next campaign. Good luck to Brian.

Not to wander to far off the point here but can the club confirm if Tony Mcminn has also parted company with club and left with Darren and Billy? If not, theirs your number 2.

Good news after all the gloom and doom of recent weeks. Well done to the BOD for moving quickly. Good luck to the new manager in all he does. They couldav moved even quicker m8,,,I was told by board members in a pub in alloa that young was offski and kerr was new gaffer and that was weeks before it was announced young was away. Kerr has someone one the board touting his name clearly. Nothing against Kerr though and hope he does well for us and he will have my backing. Now lets get some of our backbone players signed up.
