Club Statement
Albion Rovers are delighted to confirm the appointment of David Douglas as Chief Executive.
The role, which David has taken on a voluntary basis, is evidence of the club's desire to continue to develop and build a structure consistent with a progressive football club.
David’s role will focus on club development, coordinating community programmes and ensuring the implementation of club initiatives.
Club Chairman, Ronnie Boyd, welcomed the appointment, saying "As club Chairman I am delighted to have someone of David’s ability and experience join our management committee in the role of Chief Executive. His knowledge of the commercial, corporate and community side of the football world will be invaluable to Albion Rovers.
”
We are in no doubt that David’s skills and undoubted enthusiasm will be an asset to the club. His previous involvement with Clyde brought many benefits both on and off the field and we are sure he can continue that the Rovers.
David is a respected figure within his field, having worked in the charitable sector. He set up his own training and consultancy business, Heartfelt, which works across all sectors - private, public and charitable. Heartfelt's ethics and sustained track record of commercial success attracted the club to invite David to the Rovers. His commercial experience, allied to his knowledge of business development within all sectors will assist the club greatly.
Heartfelt's approach is also entirely consistent with the club's vision. Although David's chief executive title may be a common one in the world of football, the club believes his remit is unique and one that it hopes will send out a strong signal on what it wants to achieve and how it wants to bring success, on and off the park.
Director of Football David Caldwell said “ The appointment of David Douglas shows the club is continuing to be innovative and progressive in its search for a successful formula, I am really looking forward to working with David on initiatives that will move the club forward with pace and structure”.
Club Manager, Brian Kerr said “David is a big addition and an excellent appointment for the club, David is a very experienced businessman and has spent many years in the sport and football sector, his wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable to a club wanting to move forward in a positive manner. It will be a great experience and I am really looking forward to working alongside both Dave, the board and the rest of the staff.
David was equally pleased and said: "I am both honoured and thrilled to take on this role with one of Scotland's best loved clubs. My father and grandfather were devoted Rovers fans and that emotional pull was something that was hard to resist when it became clear there was a chance to come here.
I will work as hard as I can to make sure that we all share the same vision for the club and that all of us contribute to a strategy to make that vision happen.
"We have great fans, a forward thinking and committed board and management committee and a talented squad led by one of the country's brightest managerial talents. All of us, working together, can make good things happen for this club."
