Highlights are up on Youtube. We had pushed up which was the right thing to do but their goal was still cheap. Both McLaughlin and Hopkins with powderpuff tackles.

Tell you what, if we do reach the play offs I'd bump Kerr and Malcolm and let whoever is the leader amongst the senior players take the play off games. My bet is that would motivate the players more and maybe give them a wee boost. With apologies for quoting myself.................... On reflection I wouldn't even wait for the play offs. Bump the two of them now. Airdrie and EF are 'winnable' games - at least on paper. Put say Reidy, Fish and Holmer in charge and get something from these two games. Have a free hit at Ayr in the last game of the season and then (hopefully) go into the play offs with some momentum and stuff Stenny with a last minute goal from Vitoria. It's obviously time for my medication.................

You may well be right: we certainly can't go on like this. Yesterday was right up the top of worst ever performances.
On another note, the crowd was given as 269: a totally false figure, and there were far more than that in attendance.

It's always easy with hindsight but they should have been bumped before the QP game. We've taken 1 point in recent weeks from QP and Forfar at home. And QP should have beaten us in my opinion. So having missed that opportunity, now is the time. You really need to be taking points off the teams round about you, especially at home. That's a massive failing on top of everything else.
As for the crowd - I thought it looked more yesterday too. What I would say though is that with the p1ssing rain, I think everyone was huddled under the main stand. So it probably looked busier than usual.
Stand roof leaks worse than our defence btw.

My only real issue with this is that these players have shown precious little leadership on the park so I'm not sure what they can do off the park. Alloa tried this in 2010 the year we went up. Hindsight is wonderful and probably the fans best armoury. If there was a time to make a change it was at Christmas time to allow a new man to bring players in on January. What a shame our manager was so loyal to his signings I think even if he had brought in Harlain earlier it would have improved things.

Good points bucky. It might not work but I've no faith in the current management. It's not about making a change just for the sake of it; a change might not make any difference. I just fear the worst with the current imposters.

Agreed Bucky, looking back at some of the posts from November its obvious that things were beginning to turn from the flag waving 'we're going for a play of spot' nonsense that was being hyped after a few good wins. Don't think I would let any of the players take control of things as I don't think they are capable of it, got to show your mettle on the park and sadly the they haven't achieved that. The manager and his assistant are the obvious target when things aren't going right, to be honest he's done a better job than I thought he would do on a budget that must be smaller than some junior sides, and yes it's easy to criticise them for not changing the team, not setting them up right however when your dealing with a limited squad then its difficult setting anything out.....oh what's that he brought a lot of them in!! yes he probably did but do you really think players are falling over themselves to come and play here. Its real easy standing on the terracing complaining about this and that and how we would all do it but we are not the ones spending most of the week wondering if so and so is going to be fit or maybe can't get off work for a midweek game. Couple of points before I get back in my box 1. The 'video' is not the reason we lost against Forfar, the only thing that was embarrassing about the whole section was the fact the numbers were falling off the backs of the tops. Go into any dressing room at half time and I think you'll find that most teams are getting a bollicking from their management staff if they aren't playing well. 2. On another thread their is a question about the directors have a lot to think about. They will be like all the other directors over the years who have tried to work out how to get the numbers of attendees at games up to a level that will bring in a decent amount of money. Seem to remember a very old post from a past director who stated that even getting another 200 folk through the turnstyle on a Saturday would make a huge difference to the finances. Perhaps that what's the directors should be looking at in the long term and leave Brian Kerr and Stu Malcolm the chance to continue to work at the playing side. An amateur cup game in Dumbarton yesterday had over 300 folk watching it, we can hardly achieve that number even with one half of the old firm not playing, something needs to be done to try and address that

The worrying signs emerged after the 5-4 defeat against Est Fife. I think the team were damaged psychologically , and have never recovered from that blow. They became frightened to win and lacked a confidence in decision making on the park- they appeared leaderless and unable to drag themselves out of the rut that set in. I have seen Rovers teams over the years that often imploded and lost 5-0, 6-0 and 7-1 on occasions like these - but the present squad does not suffer from these such disasters - we have become accustomed over recent years to be fighters and scrappers. We still try to fight , but do not seem to have the strength or creativity to get the better of our opponents. The sides we have faced this year were nothing special and it is disappointing that we have not been able to capitalise on this and become an established team in this league. It is not over yet , but I fear a lot of sole searching may be the order of the day over the close season. Regardless of how it materialises there will always be an Albion Rovers FC !!

It's all pretty much been said in this thread We find ourselves in a dire but not unexpected position.
Personally don't see any point in firing the manager now. Too late for that.
My problem is/was that he was given the job in the first place. We needed experience to try and retain our status and as soon as we appointed our current manager then it was bottom 2 we were looking at.
I said it in July and never swayed from that. Every week I look at the prediction thread and every week roll my eyes at the wildly speculative posters predicting a 3-0 Rovers victory. Really ?
We are where we are really on merit. If people want to pretend its down to bad luck or refereeing conspiracies then good luck to them.
I'm not even adverse to giving the manager until Christmas in League 2 to see if he can get us into the top 4.
I honestly don't see him stopping the rot this season. This looks like a broken and spiritless group of players and it would probably have been kinder all round to ask him to step down at Christmas.
If I had one phone call to make to save our season it would be to Ciaran Donnelly to come back and take charge until the end of the season.

Not for his playing abilities Grant but oh to have someone with his drive, determination and love for Rovers at the helm.
Having said that..he would stroll into this current Rovers team.

Trying to win by pushing-up with 10 mins to play was clearly not the correct thing to do. Normal teams try to achieve this in the first 80 mins by shooting at goal now and again. I've seen better tactics down at The Candy Store, oh sorry that was 'Tic tacs'. A point wouldn't have been disasterous with 3 games to play.
