Recent form in League 1, last six games Points
Ayr 16 Raith 10 Stranraer 9 East Fife 9 Forfar 9 Alloa 8 Arbroath 8 Airdrie 6 Queens Park 5 Arfc 0 The reality of our form with 3 games to save ourselves hit when I seen this.

The harsh reality is;
After we lost 5-4 to EF, we sat 3rd in the table after 9 games with 15 points
After Saturdays result, we sit 9th in the table after 33 games with 27 points
We have taken 12 points in 26 matches, which is simply abysmal

Yeap the stats don't lie. The worst thing about it is bar a few times, the rest are not particularly special........east fife, Arbroath, forfar........but our standard is considerably less which is backed up by these figures. The writing was on the wall in the build up to the season starting when we only had enough players to enter a 5s league.

Yip, I think we have all managed to work that out by now.

Look at Stranraer - had a `fire sale` of their best players in January after coming under the `cosh` from their bank and yet have comfortably retained their league status.

Change the thread title tio "Really Brutal" and you've got it in one.
As said before this season could have been so much different.

Indeed, apart from the two Ross Stewarts, none of our other departures at the end of last season went upwards and onwards. Neither of those two have established themselves in a good St. Mirren side. Retaining Reid, Fisher and Davidson was good business and when the two guys from Alloa signed, most League One watchers said great move for `Vers.Where would we be without Mr Trouten`s contribution. The `keeper came with a reasonably good pedigree but then he disappeared. `On paper` we had a reasonable squad from a much diminished budget....but then points aren`t won `on paper`.

As they say past performance is no guarantee of future results, hopefully! Your team can go down or stay where it is to paraphrase the other part of the investment warnings. We can get a result in Airdrie and will need to be up for it.
It would be a miracle to end up 8th but I certainly think 9th is attainable and although far from ideal at least we'd have another 2 or hopefully 4 games to fight.

`Fight`.....David...as I understand it that seems to be one thing lacking in too many of fixtures. Best to be realistic and prepare for League 2 next season. Also everyone is forgeting that QP have games to play and points to FIGHT for.

The difference with Stranraer (or one of the differences) is that they at least had 'points on the board' by January. Kinda the same as the Rovers last year where we had racked up something to hang onto.

Yes - but look at the `last six` table - Stranraer 9 points - ARFC nil points - so despite losing key men - plus suspensions / injury as all teams have at this stage - they continued to do quite well.
