The cowards, preferring to pull it rather than see it defeated.

I think they will come back with another proposal next year...they hint at that in the text

Good riddance to the proposal.
If it had been carried, Rovers could have ended up 5th in the Lowland League this coming season, and end up being relegated.
More important, a precedent would have been set for the Bigot Brothers to change the league whenever it took their fancy.

No doubt they'll come up with some other wheeze to try and join the pyramid. Rumour is that there's a majority against them being admitted to the LL next year should they wish to try that again.

I’m against Colt teams in what already is a toilet of a league. Get them out bring back Jock Stein Friendship cup and the Lanarkshire cup! Would that replace £4k ?

I hear that the board have discussed this and are most certainly not in favour of the continued participation of the B teams.

I lifted this from Pie & Bovril: We can't afford to knock this back Two ways to look at the £4,000 £4,000 would not hurt. As every non B team in the league gets the £4,00, is it any advantage? The question comes down to whether you see B teams as a good thing in general, whether you accept that B teams will never get or later seek the option to be promoted, who the benefit of the pyramid system is for (Scottish Football or for the top clubs), whether you accept that not all teams are equal, that the league system is the play thing of the top clubs, that Scottish Football can be bought. I hope that my opposition to B teams comes across. Another thought, you play a B team, it is not a friendly, there are three points at stake, you play as hard as possible, you get injuries, you get bookings and/or sending offs, your season can be skewed by injuries, suspensions from matches against B teams. The B teams are made up of young, full time professionals, therefore not a level playing field. If the top clubs need a reserve league for their youngsters, they should set one up. I hope the Rovers Board will vote against this option. It might be an idea to survey the supporters to see what our overall opinion is.

I hear that the board have discussed this and are most certainly not in favour of the continued participation of the B teams. The Board should go public on this. When there was the proposed league gerrymandering before, it was a groundswell of club and supporter opposition that led to the top clubs backing off.

This being our first, certainly not last, season in the Lowland league and coming up against the colts teams of Celtic and Hearts has been interesting. However will having them in this league benefit the national team as promoted by Mr Maxwell.. no it won’t, does it benefit their parent club.. I doubt it as they’ll go out and buy some guy from Europe or Asia before playing a youth player, will it stop the progression of a team from the WOS league with ambitions of a higher level of football… yes it will. One of the stipulations of promotion to the top league should be that they should be able to provide a team to play in an SPL reserve league.
The Lowland league, as much as I hate being in it, should be a stepping stone for progressive clubs who can/will be a benefit to their community and have the proper investment to move forward. To be honest there are a few other teams in the 2nd division who are on borrowed time I’d like to think that in the future we would be considered as a progressive club… it might take time but I’m forever hopeful
