So why bother if we are a scottish club? A rebrand Coatbridge United type name and saltire given we are a Scottish club might seem more logical then. I can't for the life of me see why any Albion Rovers fan would think this is even 1% a goer.

Cannot believe I am responding to this nonsense, but we are Albion Rovers from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland and have a small but loyal set of fans from Scotland, England and further a field. So who ever is feeding the media with this cr☆p needs to find another clubs fans to wind up.

All over every news channel by tomorrow. We'll be known as Shamrock Rovers in people's minds. One thing for certain. You would never see me again again at Cliftonhill if this happened.

Like ive said im agreeing with you, its ridiculous, but calling something "sectarianism" when its literally just Irish is a massive part of the problem in Scotland.....but yes I'd only be interested in a rebrand if it was still Albion Rovers and only slight changes, either way something is needed, but not this, its click bait at most from the Daily record

A fake news story, but the Daily Record thrives upon this junk. Rubbish.

Anyone remember Celtic Nation. they tried to take us over also !
I hope the chap Paul is reading this... F*ck off you utter utter twat.
One thing to note - the way our shares are set up means this kind of utter nonsense would be very hard to implement. Advertiser / Daily R - what a shambles of newspaper.

You heard it here first. I've just seen Peter McLurg out walking his dog with the new Irish tricolour Rovers top on. Deal is done.
If you believe that, or everything in the Record, you'll believe anything!

Baloney. Is this the Paul Reilly who used to be involved at ARFC?
Coatbridge football activity 1875-1896 - Drumpellier, Albion Rovers, Coatbridge, Whifflet Shamrock, Gaelic were all football clubs registered as senior teams with the SFA and all played in Coatbridge. There was also a Gartsherrie team, described as senior in the local papers, but, they never registered with the SFA.
Drumpellier 1875-88 Albion Rovers 1881- Coatbridge 1888-90 Whifflet Shamrock 1888-96 Gaelic 1895-96
Coatbridge was not unusual at the time for having many senior teams.
I would have thought that there was more potential in Coatbridge for an 'Irish' club in the 1880-90s than there is now, but Whifflet Shamrock went to the wall.
I don't see Irish as sectarian, but I would have thought that the Bigot Brothers have these two markets sown up.

Being Irish isn't sectarian but those who have a sectarian agenda would use it as a platform for such. Keep it well away from Cliftonhill.

Anyone remember Celtic Nation. they tried to take us over also ! Indeed, remember we played them pre-season around 2012 or 2013 as they existed 2012-2015. Their US based backer withdrew funding which seems to happen a helluva lot in these types of scenarios! Did they try to take us over? Myself and another Rovers fan during the odd period of lockdown when we could travel but no football at all was permitted in Scotland and only non-league was allowed in England travelled to watch Carlisle City only to realise that was the same place Celtic Nation played.

It was mentioned at the AGM that the club had an offer and met with somone last summer
Mark Hunter described the "ideas" they had to take the club forward as rediculos
It was also mentioned that they couldn't say where all the money was comming from to fund their ideas, and that they probably wouldn't pass the SFA fit and propper persons test for running a football club

Hardly surprising the Record fell for this but it is just such a lot of bunkum, as someone used to say. A 10,000 seat stadium in 5 years? ? Why? Half the SPL couldn't fill that. And adjoining complex? And not a jot on their website (one page). The silly season has arrived early.
