What a load of absolute garbage!!
The Advertiser & Record are worse than rags.
And the neandertals have already jumped on it on the Coatbridge Past & Present page on FB.

Don't blame the press for reporting a true story. Think you'll find it might be bigger news than Ange going to Spurs by tomorrow's media. Peter

All over every news channel by tomorrow. We'll be known as Shamrock Rovers in people's minds. One thing for certain. You would never see me again again at Cliftonhill if this happened. Peter Every cloud ………. 🤣

I wonder when New Rover will make a counter bid.
The team will run out to the theme tune for One flew over the cuckoo’s nest

...but no-one will be there to see it.
Now there's a philosophical conundrum for a Friday night.

I have been quiet over the last week or so on the message board. I did see the article on Friday morning but I completely ignored it as I thought it was an absolutely ludicrous piece of nonsense by an absolutely garbage newspaper and I treated it with the distain it deserved by blanking it. I didn't realise within hours it would make the Rangers forum " Follow Follow" the Celtic one "Kerrydale Street, the UK version of the American forum Reddit, The Sun & The Daily star, Football insider and lots of others too. The record Journalist who wrote the garbage piece is called Paul Thomson who also works for Lanarkshire Live Sport and he's just posted another article with an apparent interview with that guy " Paul Reilly" who doesn't seem to want to give up on his crazy idea ! My question is, is this guy Paul Reilly real or is it someone else taking Paul Thompson at the Record for a mug? Either way I think the board need to make it absolutely crystal clear that they aren't interested in this by contacting this guy at the record directly to deny this or releasing some form of statement to make it clear this isn't happening ! Here is the new ridiculous article here www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/albion-rovers-rebrand-plan-would-30099207

Gordon Parks. 'Journalist'. What a bitter and twisted 'article'. He must be annoyed about all the times he was on the losing side at Cliftonhill when he 'played' for shire.

Would suggest unless there is another toilet roll 'shortage' then there is no other reason to buy this rag.

The proposed consortium have just sent out a email to those thwt signed up for updates
It reads Good afternoon,
Thank you for your interest in ‘Project Phoenix’, come join us and play your part in creating Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge
“Albion Rovers and Coatbridge – affectionately known as the village of the footballing damned.”
That line was the introduction to a recent sports news story reacting to our proposed takeover of Albion Rovers and rebranding the club Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge. The footballing world has for decades ridiculed Albion Rovers and the town of Coatbridge, was it justified? Objectively yes, as season after season, each Albion Rovers board compounds the failures and ridicule of the one that came before further embarrassing the club & town.
The current board has presided over one of the biggest disasters in the club’s history, for the first time in 120 years the club has fallen out of the professional league structure and is in existential threat. The current board has destroyed the Albion Rovers brand, it's finished, league tables & structures do not lie, and this entire board is 100% responsible. They have no ambition, no strategy, no business acumen, no viable plan for recovery, no quality competitive & entertaining product on the pitch, no growth strategy for the club's future, no pride, no passion, no desire, no fight, no clue, no position in the SPFL structure and no right to be in office anymore, as custodians of the club they have failed on every possible metric. Yet they continue to feel no shame or exhibit accountability for their failures as they desperately cling to office, for now. Furthermore, and crucially the current board and club have no connection to the townspeople, fan base, culture, and history of Coatbridge no local football club can survive without a deep connection to the local community, but we intend to change and reverse this, with your help.
We aim to rebrand Coatbridge’s local football club, to one that emotionally connects with the people of the town, its history, its culture, its heart, mind, and soul. A local club that reflects the people of Coatbridge and who we are and who would gladly walk around with its strip and scarf with pride as a supporter of their local team. We aim to create a new rebranded football club that Coatbridge can have pride in, a club that has a mutually beneficial relationship with the town, support the club and the club gives back through, entertainment, sport, pride, passion, society, and an improved local economy and more jobs for Coatbridge.
The future is created by bold people with bold ideas and ambition, but Ideas, strategies, and plans alone are nothing without the movement of people in unison, so we need you to join us to become part of ‘Project Phoenix’ to play your part and create this new future for Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge, come join us, its in your hands…
We will be creating support & operational groups for everyone who joins us to take part in ‘Project Phoenix’. Email back your interest, and how you think you could contribute to ‘Project Phoenix’, let us know your skill set, if it's support, social media, operational, organisational, etc etc…. you tell us how you think you can contribute to the Shamrock Rovers Coatbridge movement, and we will be in touch and invite you along to group meetings to join everyone. Let's together eradicate the pejorative headlines about Coatbridge & Football once and for all.
We need you; Coatbridge needs you, come join us, it's your club.
