This part stands out "Brogan wants to immediately bounce back and make Rovers a League One club again" “We want to win the league. We are in it to win it. “Failing that, a play-off place. We aren’t looking down the bottom. “We need to try and get straight up right away and we will give it our best shot Okay, that's virtually at complete odds with what John said at the 'meet the manager' event. So which is it John?

From a board perspective they have called this right. Restructure was inevitable giving the fall from League 1 and clearly the correct decisions have been made. My view is that there have been VERY tough decisions to make and the board have done that. I made my views clear after Meet the Manager event and I think the vision that has been set out is the best in the circumstances, not withstanding an oil rich investor from Qatar coming in, and I think the mix the Management Team are going for (pulling together) is the right one. Making it work is different altogether. I'm trusting that each signing, no matter their background or experience, is the right signing for the squad, that they will make a difference and that the Management Team have done their homework. I'm expecting no box office signings so I will not be disappointed. I do appreciate the point regarding ambition. I think there should be a clear message around a play off place, minimum. I do hope this is the message in the background though. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Nice to see Mr or Mrs Brogan supporting their son ffs. The first part is fair enough. But as for "the mix the management team are going for" being the right one? Only time will tell but it's an absolute gamble at best. Maybe John does have the 'magic eye' and can spot talent at the lower reaches of the league structure. Again, time will tell. But if it was really that simple and John was just the man to pull it off then this approach would have been tried years ago and everyone would be doing it. And John would have done it before now, wouldn't he.....................................?

It is June. No matches whatsoever have been played. Clearly, Brogan must go.

I'm not saying Brogan must go ffs. What I'm saying is the blind optimism and faith that everyone knows what they are doing and everything will be alright on the night needs to be tempered with reality. Witness all the uber-positive postings last year amid the numerous poor performances and losses.
I'm all for being positive and supporting the Rovers - season ticket already bought btw - but the approach being taken this year is an absolute gamble.
John knows what he's doing alright? Telling supporters at 'meet the manager' one thing and the Record something else? A consistent message would be good for a start.
ProRege's post is well written and he is entitled to his opinion. Just as much as I am btw. But it's quite an observation from a new member on here and that always makes me suspicious.

I agree that what we see, on the face of it, is a quite a gamble . Yes ProRege`s is a new poster, but don`t forget there are quite a few people - not just on the playing side, coming in to the club and, hopefully bringing with them their skills acquired in the big wide world away from football. Dunno, maybe he is in that category, but he did come out with some sensible comments. We do need `new blood` off the field as much as, hopefully, we are going to get on it.

But if it was really that simple and John was just the man to pull it off then this approach would have been tried years ago and everyone would be doing it. And John would have done it before now, wouldn't he.....................................? LOL......I see your point. I am merely throwing my support behind the new management team who are playing with the hand that they have been dealt with, which is no-one's fault just where we find ourselves at the moment in reference to financial constraints. I am not suggesting that this approach is simple, far from it, but for every multi million spending team out there (and there are many) there is a Billy Beane that upsets the odds. Dream, for a moment, that we have found our Billy Beane. In all seriousness though I do firmly believe that bringing in young (ish) hungry players and provide a platform and an opportunity to succeed can work. That's what I was sold on when I heard John speaking. If, and a "big if" I accept, the management team get this right then a play off place can be achieved and a good season for us unfolds. This is a gamble but most things in life are. Again given the finances this is probably one of the few options available. You are correct, only time will tell. Clearly I am a new member, the stats on this forum are evident. I will be honest, the last Rovers game I was at was on Jan 29th 2000. However being Coatbridge born and bred I was influenced to back my local team a wee bit more than "how did the rovers get on?", which is the question most brig punters ask coming home from "bigger" games. So here I am, leave me be in my blind faith and optimism knowing that Neymar da Silva Santos Junior will not be seen in Asda following his medical at the Waverley Medical Practice

First thing, not one person is saying Sack Brogan nor is anyone wanting him sacked.
All this backing of him though, seems to be from the older generation who are happy with his appointment due to what he done as a player. I’m afraid to say being a player and a manager is a completely different gig.
Why has he not managed in the senior game for over 20 years? I think he may have won promotion but has he won anything significant in the junior game?
These are genuine questions btw.

Welcome back ProRege. As you'll find on this forum there is a lot of 'happy clapping' which I've no real problem with. It just seems that if you're not happy clappy then your opinions aren't always appreciated very well. No matter.
I hope you make it along to a few games. The Rovers need all the fans and income they can get.

Are there any who post on this board who would have forecast that appointment ? However, the BOD, whose hands are somewhat tied by the financial situation - not of their making - must have heard enough to make the appointment. Hopefully it will work out, time and results will tell

Please ignore my previous post as I messed it up.
I read that article too and my thought was don't believe everything you read in the papers (regarding promotion). I am happy to go along with the top 6 finish that was mentioned by John at the meet the manager do. I was happy with what he said that night and have now bought a season ticket whereas before I was having doubts about doing this before this meeting. Of course it is a gamble to appoint him but what isn't as most managers appointed are risky like when Darren Young was appointed and probably Steven Gerrard at Rangers, but yes time will tell especially as most of the squad will be new again. Will gladly go back though to see how the season unfolds.
