Competitive football is back(for us that is), looks set to be a good game tonight against a ton of ex rovers, will be very interesting to see how the game pans out tonight, hopefully a 2-1 win tonight to get our group campaign up and running

Disappointing. At 1-1 we looked like taking the win but instead seemed to do a Darren and sit back. Keeper outstanding at penalty shoot out and maybe should have let him take one. Most of the rest should go away and practice them.

Rovers got a point, but stenny got the extra point on pens, Rovers need to work on taking pens, again on saturday against East kilbride that wont be an easy game.

Completely dominated the game from half time up until we scored the equaliser then we stopped playing. Very frustrating.

Serious question for someone at the club who might read this .......... Just wondered how many complimentary tickets were issued for last night's match out of the 244 crowd.

Thought we played quite well last night, plenty of positives to be taken despite the penalty shootout. Bowman produced 3 excellent penalty saves and to be honest wasn't called into action an awful lot during the 90 mins. The two centre back positions were always going to be tough to fill but young Lightbody had a good game, looks comfortable with the ball at his feet and with a more experienced player such as Ross Perry beside him should develop him as the season continues.
The midfield looks strong with Fisher looking every inch the captain. Holmes and Higgins look up for it as well, of course it will take time to gel but to me the signs look good. I've been a fan of Alan Trouten for years and I think his experience and class will show as the season goes on. I for one am delighted to have him at Rovers

More or less agree with Sam. Decent performance and we were unlucky to find ourselves behind. The Dunlops would have been proud of the goal we lost - straightforward ball into the box and their guy got a free header in. Keeper saved well but Stenny followed up to bundle the ball over the line. Totally against the run of play to be fair.
Rovers played some really nice football, mostly on the deck and it was pretty to watch. No real cutting edge up front I thought but it was good to see us attacking in numbers. Victoria looks the part. He's fast and skilful but there's a reason he's at this level. He'll score goals for us but he's going to be inconsistent, frustrating and a joy to watch in equal measure I feel.
The equaliser came from a Trouten penalty. Pretty soft penalty awarded but it was probably the only thing the ref gave us all night. Onto penalties at the end and the standard wasn't great. Mick missed his for Stenny which gave us something to cheer but after 6 penalties each Stenny were the victors.
What else? We've got some spivvy looking new yellow nets. Quite eye catching they are. The Dunlops still wear the same boots as each other which is kind of cute and sinister at the same time. Fish's hair-lighted hairdo looked quite nice from a distance. One or two looked like they might still be recovering from Scotty McLauchlan's stag do............
Don't remember there being a man of the match awarded. Crowd was 244 hence my question above. I stood at the front of the stadium waiting on my mates and was surprised to see how many comps we gave out. I reckon at least half of the crowd were on freebies. So when every penny is a prisoner I'm surprised at our generosity. I said it last season too after the Clyde cup game. We don't need to give out as many freebies.
So, can someone either tell me how many it was? Or tell me it's none of my business. No problem if that's the case.

Add the fact of (some) people sneaking in when parking their car in the car park inside the stadium, as well as some resident non payers who always come in just after kick off. And we wonder why we as a club are struggling on the money front

All the points above noted about late entrance, car park and comps. Discussing these as a matter of urgency and will come back with answers soon.
