So let's get the positives out the way first:
1. We didn't concede a goal from poorly defending a straightforward ball into the box.
2. Connor Shields. Our best player by a mile.
3. Keeper Bowman is decent.
As for the rest.......... We lost 4 goals by standing off, stepping back, failing to put a tackle in and allowing Ayr to waltz past us and score at will. The 4th goal was a non-penalty awarded for Bowman making the save and then the Ayr forward falling into him. As poor a decision as you'll see.
Victoria - touch of the headless chicken with no end product.
Shields - much better option up front by a mile. Strong, quick and direct with an eye for goal. Took his goal well and had a couple of other chances. Must start next week.
Bowman - a few great saves. One in particular at 5-1 which he pushed over the bar. Faultless at the goals.
Davidson - man of the match (!), presumably sponsored by Mr and Mrs Davidson today.
Ref - brutal. Denied Rovers a stonewall penalty at 3-0 when Perry was tripped in the box. Then 'evened' that up by awarding Ayr their non-penalty
Ayr - good, better than us but not world beaters. They'll be in the mix at the year end.
Crowd - 806. A fair few Ayr fans made the trip.
Overall Impression - the jury is out. Bad day at the office and all that.
Next week - QP at Hampden. That'll be an interesting one.
Conner Shields wont be here long, hes only on an amatuer contract, sat next to walsall scout on Tuesday, he was watching him.
Not sure what to make of the game, bad start, then got back into the game started playing then, BANG 2-0, they are a good side though and full time, took the goals well and look a yeard sharper where it mattered, full time training!!!!
At times today it was more entertaining off the park, if anyone needs to know anything about what goes on at the club, go into the club shop, the guy in there is the daily bugle, some funny stuff, arguments, near fights, it had it all, great entertainment, i will be back!!!
In all seriouslness enjoyed the game, tried to play football and could have been, like you say, a bad day at the office!
