Ronnie has been a supporter of the the club since he was a boy, he and I traveled together to away games many times on the (old) Supporters Club buses. Both of us tried to play football for the Supporters team - Ronnie a bit more successfuly than me I might add. As Roy says he stepped up to take over the reins in troubled times when others did a runner. There cannot be many SPFL clubs who can say that their Chairman has supported the club for sixty years. Good that he makes himself available to mingle and talk with supporters on match days instead of glad handing in the boardroom - although that has its place as well. I really hope that all the plans that Ronnie undoubtedly has come to fruition and the club has stability and success during his tenure in office.

Our chairman carries out many roles in his current post and goes out of his way to make supporters feel welcome at all times. Engaging with the "troops" is a necessary way of community involvement - we need all the supporters we can get.If that means - and I quote the DOF phrasebook - he is not interfacing in the boardroom at all times, then I'm all for it!.

Outrageous and ill-informed criticism about the chairman.

Can only agree with the messages supporting our chairman here. It's amazing what a 5.1 defeat can do to some people when they are sitting behind a keyboard. Completely uncalled for. What you see is what you get......complete transparency, you can't win, if the chairman hides in the boardroom he's not doing enough to engage....if he comes out to speak to the fans hes lonely and looking for company !!!!!! Keep up the great work Mr chairman.

Gladdens my heart to see such support for big Ronnie, a man who has supported the club (home and away and through thick and very thin indeed) for the last 50+ years, and has spent almost every day of his retirement working tirelessly on the club's behalf. Keep up the good work, Mr Chairman.

Can't believe I was reading 'sack the board' garbage after one defeat. Unbelievable.

Criticism of Saturdays defending = warranted. Criticism of the chairman = absolutely ridiculous. End of.

It is disgraceful that people are wagging fingers at the chairman - running a club like Albion Rovers is a more difficult task than running the Man Utds and Celtics of this world- it takes a lot of commitment and sacrifices, without a cast of thousands to delegate duties to - it can be a lonely world. The great achievements in the past few years should not be forgotten and we should be eternally grateful that we have a loyal supporter in charge.

Ronnie is on 10k a month! Nah, I'll bet he even buys his own biccies. He's a great guy and was willing to step up when things were (very) tough and supports the club through thin and thinner. If thats the skill sets to get he chairmans job, i am up for it! I can ride a bike also, does that help ? lol

He introduced himself as the chairman and the guy next to me thought he was joking as it not ususal in my expereince for a chairman to be in the crowd wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but he was in the directors box during most of the game? Im lost? Anyway appologies?

So whatever he does is always positive and therefore kind of all right by most of us. Don't let this put you off posting. We're way too agreeable on this site most of the time and it's good to have something different to discuss and to get a discussion going. Just out of interest then, how would you describe our defending of crosses into the box and at any of the goals at the weekend, apart from the penalty?

Most of the goals came from general play, through the middle, we made mistakes and they took advantage of our mistakes, i did not think we played that bad, we had a big penalty claim and then they got one that was clearly in Bowmans hands as i was at the cafe at the time. I would have played Lightbody, thought he has done well, also Conner Sheilds, but i was at QOS and he was poor there, so in general i think manager has it right. Queens park will be another game, wont make it as on holiday but not mssing being a Celtic regular, got boring.
How do you think we will do this season, i think we play good football for this league, but only time will tell.

That's a good summing up I think. Agree re Connor and Daniel. They have potential for sure and maybe the manager is just nursing them along at the moment which is the right thing to do. Going with experience against Ayr was a no-brainier.
Difficult to say how we'll do. We've a better squad than last year in my opinion. We're playing prettier football for sure. We'll have a better idea in a few weeks. My head says we'll finish in the bottom half of the table.............but I've a tenner on us to win the league and/or finish in the top 3!
Good to hear you're not missing any other teams. Every game in this league is competitive. Stick with the Rovers; you won't regret it!

Do not know what was worse ...no getting a pie at half time cause Ayr fans got there first (just like there players in the match ) or getting humped 5-1.... I thought very entertainingly by Ayr..
Regardless of the score ....great game to watch.... ill be back for next home match. . N.B.Hope Ayr player Jamie Adams recovers well and quickly from a horrible injury (fractured cheekbone ,eye socket and broken nose)...ouch....he sat and watched remainder of the match from the dugout with those injuries....respect to the man.
