They got relegated. (again) Not much of a role-model. Indeed. Thank God they didn’t appoint a complete rookie from the juniors as manager who then went on to fill the team with sub-standard players and weans from Alloa youth. That could have been really disastrous. Attempting, even by association, to hold our custodians up as role models is laughable.

All I’d add to jaydee’s good post is that some proper commercial nous is needed on the board. Without a decent revenue stream everything else falls.
Getting a competitive team on the pitch starts with having the money there to assemble the management and players. Good decisions then need to be made in relation to recruitment - see last season for what not to do.
We’ll all make up our own minds as to how successful the board are in doing that when we get confirmation of Kevin’s plans for next season. I hope stays because I think he’d be a quality appointment.

I just find it odd that a thread of 4 pages on how marvellous everything is at relegated, almost recently bankrupt Stenhousemuir is put up as the perfect model for Rovers to follow.

David, your memory is selective.
I will quote from Chairman Eddie Haggerty`s statement at the last AGM...." When Ronnie asked me to join the BOD in 2016, the club was in a very perilous financial state, with the bank saying that if the club exceeded the overdraft, even by a very small amount, it would lead to foreclosure and bankruptcy and numerous other creditors knocking on the door but.........in a magical 93rd minute of a cup tie in December 2016 a newly signed young player, Callum Ferguson scored a goal that saved our club" He was of course referring to home Cup draw against Celtic, the following January.

We are all fully ware of all this; Rovers' financial matters are public knowledge; but why are there four pages of stuff about Stenhousemuir? What is the purpose of this thread? What point are you trying to make? Stenhousemuir did almost go bust, and they have just been relegated; so what's the great thing about them which we are meant to be doing? I just don't get it.

David Im reading it from the point of view that Stenny has a sound set up which will prevent them going into freefall into League 2. Completely different from our scenario last year where we fell from League 1 straight to the bottom of the league for the majority of the season. Im not an expert on Stenny but reading this sounds as if they will be pushing seriously to get back into League 1 and if their Chairman is accurate on their position, it may well be the case. The chairman has articulated HOW they have achieved this. And yes, I am taking it from face value.
They have an increased budget from last year and that is going into League 2. They have a management team in place and no doubt key players will be retained. Their community work is accelerating etc. etc.
Relegated, yes (staying up by the skin of your teeth isnt success) - Bankrupt, nearly (so were we). Key difference is they sought to do something different.
However, time will tell. They could be rock bottom of League 2 this season but I think they'll be major contenders to go straight back up and I reckon (assuming Cove to the business) there will be 5 or 6 teams fighting for promotion. I want us to be in the mix but these are the teams/set-ups that we are up against.
I mean, seriously, their Chairman is claiming to have a bigger budget for League 2 than League 1!!!
