There's no doubt previous boards haven't helped. But that's a side issue. This group have been assembled by John, on the 'dream ticket' that juniors are good enough to cut it in L2. At the 'meet the manager' event John himself said he was aiming for top 6. That seemed realistic and when he said top 6 on the night I genuinely didn't think he meant we'd be in the top 3, more mid-table and I'd have settled for that.
Everyone on here is entitled to their opinion. Mine is: on the basis of what I've seen so far, the team are an honest bunch who try, I've no problem with that. They're just not good enough. Again, that doesn't mean I don't support the club, it's just being realistic.
Let's face it, messages on here aren't going to bring about change. For what it's worth I think the Board will leave things as they are and John will see it through unless he decides for himself enough is enough. So he'll get his chance.

If I am missing the boat then fair enough but does anyone on here have solid figures as to what the squad was assembled on? For all we know the squad has been assembled on a far lower budget than maybe everyone is letting on. If not I feel its harsh to judge as until we know for sure we dont know what in the hell he has been armed with for taking on the league. John could have accepted the role on less than predecessors which doesnt say much. After reading a lot of the board posts on here folk arnt trustful that we have any money. My opinion is we can blame John to high heavens but the board etc are the custodians of the club and have final say over who the manager spends the clubs cash. They would have known they were all Junior players and in my opinion could have intervened but didnt because it was a cheap option that they were only to happy to take a punt on because the bank account has heehaw. But I do agree it needs to improve quickly no matter of circumstance but my gut feeling is we only know some of the picture and John is being the fall guy when neglect has been happening in the shadows for a couple of years now. As I say what has he been armed with and is he being very noble or too noble by not outing a club he loves who have potentially hung him out to dry financially.

goodrover - I don't think anyone is missing the boat. Everyone is entitled to their view on what is going on. For me though the debate isn't really that wide. The board are responsible for the finances, the governance of the money and appointing the manager. Amongst other things but that's what interests me.
The manager is responsible for signing the players and getting a team out there. I think you're spot on that the board bought into the vision (!) that junior players would be good enough. It was the cheap option and they obviously thought it was worth a punt.
I wouldn't like to describe anyone as the fall guy but it still seems a massive misjudgement that junior players would be good enough to compete in L2. I said on here before that apart from a few apologists, I haven't spoken to anyone who thinks that's a good idea. And............ just to be pedantic............ that doesn't mean I'm not supporting the club. I'm not stupid and I can see how it comes across like that but It's my opinion based on what I have seen.
If John pulls this off then he'll be manager of the year in Scotland.

Well thats it and it will be a challenge for these players to avoid relegation I am not disillusioned in that way but we have the players and I think like you stated in another post both they and John are here for next while at least. I can only be positive if only for my own sanity!
but such as life it is fluid and changing and I could be cursing all come 5pm depending on what I see today! But thats why we all go, we all want the team to win and do well no matter our view on how its done or not done.
If today is brutal I will be running very low on hope I wont lie about that but....I think we arnt far away from a result that could push the boys on

For two seasons now both managers, coaches and two entire squads left the club, along with the others who were involved, CEOs, DOFs, directors and volunteers, it comes close to 60 individuals. Having chatted with some and listened to others like parents and friends of them, there was no mention of money. All said they were unhappy with the level of professionalism and the way the clubs was run. Brogan is just another adding to the list that the club have failed. Are they all wrong? ? Uh oh! Players, parents, ground staff all of a sudden want ti unburden themselves to a single person. I smell Caldwell.

Maybe we need to bring back Caldwell, Wee Andy Redman, David Douglas, Pat Rolink, Craig Downs, Lindsay Hamilton, Mitchell Gibbs and all the others who have walked away during the tenure of the present `regime`.

Yes let's bring back a man who shamelessly self promotes himself while using two usernames on the message board.
Anyone read Lee Sharpe's autobiography lately, a right good read when the night's are well Cald?

I'm totally with you Rovergrant. Rovers going out of SPFL would be worse than Brexit. Glad we are on song and in agreement! Namaste!

Strange targeted comment to a forum member, others are posting similar posts all wanting change and you single me out and accuse me of being someone? Slightly off target and not in the spirit of a forum in my opinion.
