There is more to running a business than pottering about with a brush n shovel...as welcome as that is. Maybe someone from the BOD should have been chasing up the non-payers and finding out why the failed to pay. The tasks you describe are not jobs for members of a BOD - they are there to run the business, keep the books up to date (as the auditors found last year that was not the case) seek out sponsorship, investment, pay bills, make sure licences are up to date (did you know the Elgin game almost did not go ahead) etc, etc - if they have time after that then fair enough. Probably sums up our current BOD - well meaning amatuers. OK Grant - accept that things aren't great right now. However, honestly, do you think that a deluge of criticism from an exiled "fan" who lives 400 miles away and seems to know everything there is to know about running a small football club really helps??? Are you willing to invest this much needed cash & volunteer for the Treasurers role?? Just thinking

A sense of perspective is required. The club is run by volunteers It has to be, the club sent out shareholders request for loans or donations just ahead of the draw against Celtic in the Cup, the Cup money bought the club time, otherwise the club would have struggled to make the end of season. Rovers are still in debt, that loan will be with us for a long time yet. Yesterday, went to the Thursday Club. For those who don't know the Thursday Club is when volunteer supporters and members of the BoD do whatever is required. I arrived just after 10am, there were already folk hard at work. Counting me, there were 6 supporter volunteers, and 5 members of the BoD. When I left at 3.30pm, 4 BoD members and two of the supporter volunteers were still there. That was 3.30pm, volunteers were still there. The jobs I was involved in included taking down advertising posters of folk who had not paid, helping check the nets, dealing with bins, and cleaning a toilet, it was not all glamour! My main point is that we are lucky to have the members of the Board that we do have. Why is there such concern about people who come in, realise that there is a lot of hours and hard work involved, and that it is unpaid. They come, they see, they leave. Good, I say. Superb post Brian - putting everything into perspective. Well done sir!

There’s a lot being said on the forum lately about how our club has been run from top to bottom, but while certain people have been having a go they’ve failed to take into account that they all do it for free. I’ve been at several cleaning days and I’ve been up shovelling snow off the pitch to get games on, and there’s one man that’s there every time and that’s Ronnie Boyd. While certain people complained on here about games not being on Ronnie was up sholving snow. Now I don’t see many chairman’s doing that, so I’d ask the people who are having ago and it’s getting worse by the day to calm down, and remember that Ronnie is a Rover man through and through and he’ll give us his all in trying to help our club.
In regards to all the new forum accounts being opened since May and that people don’t make it obvious who they are well I’m Jack Gillooly
Grant in regards to the Elgin game being in doubt what makes you think this?

The point is jack - whilst it’s great and extremely commendable that Ronnie shovels snow; that’s not his job. His job is to get someone else to shovel snow, freeing him up to safeguard the future of the club, primarily by getting finance in. Being blunt, despite the physical effort required, it’s much easier to shovel snow than get new money in.
And I do think Ronnie is one of the good guys btw.
