Indeed Tee - but since when did common sense have anything to do with football authorities?

As it is ambiguous leaves options open. It will be easier for them to boot us out. Can say they are making an example etc etc

At a disciplinary hearing held today (Thursday, 24 August 2017) the SPFL Board charged Albion Rovers FC with a breach of the IRN-BRU Cup Regulations. The charge arose from the participation of player Liam McGuigan as a used substitute during Albion Rovers’ match against Spartans in the First Round of the IRN-BRU Cup on Tuesday, 15 August 2017. Liam McGuigan was, at that time, not registered with Albion Rovers and was therefore not eligible to play in that match. The tie finished 0-0 after extra time, with Albion Rovers then winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 5-4. Albion Rovers pleaded guilty to the breach of the IRN-BRU Cup Regulations. The SPFL has annulled the result of the Albion Rovers v Spartans match and instead awarded the match as a 0-3 win to Spartans. Albion Rovers were also fined £2,000. Spartans therefore progress to the Second Round of the 2017/18 IRN-BRU Cup in place of Albion Rovers and will now play Linfield at home. Absolutely disgraceful. Wheres the consistency in decision making by the hierarchy? If we wrrent drawn against Linfield it wouldve been a different outcome. Can we appeal?

Sounds to me like we are being punished twice a fine and thrown out of the cup, why not one or the other

yup - Can completely understand the omission as pointed out above their rules were so badly written anything could have happened.
But why the fine also ? £2K won't be far off our weekly wage bill.

Absolute disgrace, yeah the player came on, but he didn't have an impact in the penalty shoot out, the fine on top is just laughable, the league is a joke

I am totally disgusted by this. £2000 fine? Totally ridiculous. Why on earth impose that upon us? Chucking us out is bad enough, but that is just vicious.

Totally OTT punishment - look at Livi last year - played a SUSPENDED player - and had to replay. Club should appeal the fine.

Blessing to be omitted from comp given what was lying in wait. However, fine is a farce. Should appeal.

Would have liked to have seen that game regardless of other peoples points, so pretty gutted that won't happen. Extra kick where it hurts for the club, A dozen season tickets counting for nothing... £2k FFS. In saying that when its happened to other clubs I've thought its such a stupid mistake to make. Its just been extra sore for us. What makes it worse the pointless time and cash wasted that Tuesday night, the game was rotten. Shambles from start to finish.
